Basement. I've had to replace the drywall twice in the past 4 years.

This is the reason why it will never work.

All the more reason to seek out indoor sessions with a private trainer? Not everyone has ample space in their basement, I know we don't.

The number one commodity traded on the t-s exchange is EXCUSES.
This is the reason it (the whole soccer thing) will never work.
            You have excuses for ANYTHING.

To second that last thought. I'm sitting at a id clinic for a top 20 women's program. All of the players can actually play here today. You can understand why they are all here. Quite impressive assemblage of talent. There is however a pretty big difference between the kids that are standing out compared to the pack. The differential is speed and intensity. Private coaches are not going to teach that.

Speed of play is consistently covered during private coaching?? If you're referring to physical speed then a strength and conditioning coach would be the expert there.

No, just flat out speed. Pretty interesting how it shows up at something like this and truthfully no, a strength & conditioning coach would not have been the difference. Intensity was also a big thing. Some players just made plays while others stood and watched.

I'm pretty confident that private coaches can most certainly help with speed and intensity.

                      Arrogant.

Not really. Sure you can add a little speed through strengthening and posture, but not a ton. As for intensity, you either have it or you don't. 1v1 training is not going to make the light go off.

Things like speed are relative. What op was undoubtedly talking about high level players that have speed just not enough. Speed training might handle some but not the players that lag behind in this setting. The differences are usually too stark. Anyone who will tell you otherwise is just drinking the coolaid

Private coach is someone who YOU hire. Depending on the areas where you see the weakness or you want to improve, you hire a coach that specializes in that particular area. you should even pinpoint the specific direction in that area and ask coach to work on that. You may not need the entire "curriculum" or program that your private coach comes with. After all they are there for the $$$$$.. at this matter, sometimes it makes sense to look at the Track coaches profiles..........

Speed without technique is effectively useless; a 1 on 1 coach will help improve technique to compliment your speed. Genetics is very much the main factor when it comes to speed, a player can become 10% faster/more explosive through running mechanics/conditioning but some have it and some don't.

Practicing at home/with friends should be seen as an extension to private training not as a replacement. Yes, professional private trainers don't come cheap but they provide a great deal and the training they provide can't be replicated in a team practice or at home, it's not even up for debate.
