What coaches allow pool use at tournaments

Staying at a hotel, coaches allow swimming the night before games and in free time. Have heard very strong opinions on this and wonder if they know what they're doing.

Does your coach allow your players to play or swim in the pool at tournaments? I've heard it burns a lot of unnecessary energy.

In my experience the pool is great fun for the kids and builds comraderie. Expect to lose the next game after they do it.

This is a good one. You don't want our moms near the pool

Previous coach forbade pool use. Eventually was persuaded that this one particular group of kids was disciplined enough not to run themselves ragged in the pool.

Current coach uses the pool as a active recovery. Low intensity, active stretching type activities.

My feeling is that younger kids, and less disciplined players can tend to go wild when given unfettered access to the pool. Older players who understand the purpose of the trip is to play soccer should be allowed to use the pool under orders to keep it calm. No different than kids not understanding what a curfew is about.

We've had a similar experience and have to agree. Even without a hotel pool, however, younger ones also enjoy the thrill of running around the hotel all night long as well. Sometimes you have to lock them in the room or they will be exhausted. That is part of the fun of going so it's a balancing act and knowing how much your kid can take.

As for the kids, let them have fun. They are only children for a short time, then they become adults. As for soccer moms, I am all for them putting on a suit and going for a swim. Better yet let them keep their t-shirts on. However, I don't really want to see the moms on our team, so if anyone else has a team of hotties then encourage the swim and advertise the location.

We didn't book a hotel unless it had a pool. The coach understood it was a big perk for the kids to going to the tournament, and wanted the kids to enjoy themselves. He always allowed it the Fri night before, but wanted kids in bed by 10p. As for game days, never before a game, but always allowed afterwards. I think when my kid is being paid professionally, a coach can expect them to stop being kids, but until then letting them enjoy their weekend with some regulated pool time is absolutely fine.

As long as no additional energy is spent on smiling or laughing it is allowed.

Majority of Stars coaches do not allow pool use whatsoever. The players are there to play soccer. Kids have been benched for violating this rule.

Certainly not JDs rule. He often has the girls do recovery sessions in the pool.

So which team age group has the "best looking" mama pool party?

                            1.stars
                            2.mps
                            3.scorps

Reply with hotel name for judges to go around.

Off the field a coach has zero say about my child. Coaches don't impress me, or intimidate me.
