I used the words we and us in relation to the things our family participates in, and the lobbying by coaches for the undivided attention of our child. Our child doesn't want to specialize, and WE, as parents, support that decision. It's a team effort for us to coordinate everything to the best of our ability. Would it make things easier if our child chose one sport. Yes. If that time comes WE will gladly adapt.

    My days of athletic accomplishments are in the distant past. I love watching my child play now. I'll miss the time we spend together when it all ends.

    Do "we" have a trophy room to showcase the decades of success "we" have had?

      I don't really care about trophies. I'm sure my parents have a box of them jammed in their attic somewhere. These days trophies are a dime a dozen. There are too many events, too many teams and too many hollow achievements. My child has several and very, very few are representative of an accomplishment that justifies their existence. Some day in the not so distant future they'll be relegated to a box in my attic as well.
