I remember reading under last year's best u10 thread that Nefc struggled with hammer and lost to Valeo. If memory serves me they used the played the wrong way excuse for hammer and the we dominated and really outplayed Valeo excuse. Boy do I wish I had a kid In anything other than boys u11. Gotta be parents posting all this crap the coach does numerous age levels. something tells me next year we will see an equally ridiculous best u12 thread.

You might want to discuss all this with your WU u10 champions of the world nutter dad.

Of course it's parents. This thread was started for fun, but inevitably turns snarky. I am more interested in individual players on each team, rather than the scores of games. These are the potential players that will all come together eventually in ODP or DAP or in other ways.

NEFC Central will struggle again and so will other teams within small and large clubs if one or more players choose to stop playing soccer or get hurt or stop developing or when the smaller kids on other teams catch up in size. That is the nature of club soccer--it is very cyclical. If you were all smart, you would get to know each other and put together an all-star team now and start playing the high scoring tournaments to get your kid noticed. There is a big world out there and there is nothing like learning from losing to bona fide skilled teams at this age. And guess what--you don't need your club or anyone else to approve it. Do it and do it now.

I always wonder how to let my son to play some quality soccer without joining the big club.

I have been coaching my son since he was 7. His skill is way ahead of other kids. The only reason I signed him up to a club is to find him a good team to play with. It is frustrating to watch my son's practice at the club. I could have done a much better job myself if I was the coach.

Sometimes, I feel I am stupid to pay over $2000 a year for this kind of program.Only if I can find a decent team for my son....

            More obnoxious:
A My son is the superstar on the best team.
B my son is a superstar because I'm a great coach.

I vote B but bet this guy is just a troll.

This is Good in Theory, BUT the reality is these are 10 year old kids, and most of us don't live the in same area. Traveling over an hour to attend practices is just not feasible at this age. We're talking about top teams based out in central MA, in Boston, on the South Shore, on the North Shore...I wish it was just as easy as assembling an all-star team...but it's not.

C'mon...give me a break. Seriously, how many parents are "forced" to send their kids to the big club because they could not find a decent team for theirs kids to play with?

Do you really think the club can develop a soccer player? That is just naive.

Well maybe the team can shoot for tournaments but play on their club teams for regular practices and league games?? I like the idea. Who will run with it?

                    I am very interested.
Actually some regular pickup game with the kids at the same level will be very helpful for the kids to develop.

Certain skills, such as an attcking possession style of play can only be leaned as a team and take hundreds of hours to become competent and thousands to master. Playing with and against high level players is a major component of youth dev, especially by age 10. There is no substitute for this. Without this, your son just won't belong on the same field, no matter how knowledgable you may think you are.

                        You are exaggerating...

Many world famous European football clubs don't do much tactical training until U13.
Many world class soccer players didn't do any structured training by age 10.
By age 10, the kids should focus on functional movement and skills...enjoy the game, maybe some game reading and the basic decision making skills.

If you can't teach a very technical and speedy 13 year old player to play good soccer before he turns 18, very likely you are not a good coach.

This is a great idea. Saturday afternoon after town games are over? My son would love this and so would I.

Agreed! Pick up soccer with a bunch of good 10 year olds, and no coaches or parents instructing would be perfect! But, we'd have to find a central location, or a couple locations to be inclusive of everyone. Can someone spearhead this?

Please give an indication of the areas where all are from (who are interested). We are in the Needham/Wellesley area.
