NEP Update
Ok, 3 games in and that's enough to make some conclusions...
1). #1A NEFC Central and #1B WU are in their own league
2) the #16 MPS Knights don't belong in this division...sorry guys
3) The remaining teams divide clearly into...
Above average...
#3 Bayside is fine (lost to NEFC Metro North)
#4 NEFC metro north has 1 quality win (bayside) but lost to Aztecs
#5 Seacoast is fine (beat 1 ok team, lost to best, beat worst)
#6 Aztecs seem fine (lost to bayside)
#7 Sachems is fine (lost to bayside).
...and Below average...
#8 Bulldogs have 1 win (Boston bolts)
#9 Celtic has 1 win (Boston bolts)
#10 Fc central (tied two lower teams, beat cavs)
#11 Cavaliers have 1 win (Fsa)
#12 Boston bolts have 1 win (scorpions)
#13 Scorpions lost to Bolts, tied FC Central
#14 FSA hasn't beaten anyone decent yet (stars and knights)
#15 Stars lost to FSA and tied fc central
#16 Knights

And yes our team does have 3 really good ones too. The team is a means to an end for the really good ones. Some may be stars on bad teams and some may be one of several good players on a decent team So yes this is a fun exercise discussing team rankings at this age but what really matters is what each good player will do in the next coming years. Unfortunately, we can't discuss specific players!

Our team is mostly from one elementary school and split this year into an older and younger team after playing together for several years. To fill in the roster for the younger team, the coach pulled from the elementary school (in addition to some great recruits from another town) and so far the improvement in some of the players is amazing. Most will not play high level soccer (certainly not to the coach's kids levels), but we are very comfortable with the coaching, the small team atmosphere, and short roster too (Ok one more player would be ideal). So what if we lose a game? My kid will develop into the best player that he can be and plus, the team does win most of the time. pretty handily even with some undeveloped players.

But my point was- I agree that the real discussion should not be around "teams" but really around player development at the individual level. But as the poster above points out, can't really do that here (talk about individual players)!
