We found out that Syosset was over hyped and not ready to compete with the big kids on the block. We also found out that PDA can't schedule themselves to a championship and that the mass teams are too strong.

What are you talking about? Overhyped? Do you realize you are talking about a team playing in Premier league? That makes them one of the top 16-20 teams in Region 1. Playing at the top level? Yes - they are ready. So they did not win yesterday. That does not make them bad, or unable to compete. It doesn't help them get to the top 15-20 in the country obviously. But unless the only people on this forum are from Stars or Scorpions or MPS, I got news for you - your team ain't close to Syossit and could not compete them or anyone in the Region 1 leagues (and that includes the Maine and New Hampshire State Cup Champions). Stop the dribble about what one or two games mean and learn some perspective. Go watch a real game of soccer.

PDA's results at Aviator show how important the home field advantage is to them. They do seem to have scheduled themselves into the playoffs though, unless Syossett or East Meadow can keep them out or Rovers and Scorpions win all their remaining games and GD. However, they play at home for the next two games and Rovers and Scorps still have to play each other and United.

It's clear that United is not as dominant as they were the last two years in premier league - but it would be tough to do a third year in a row. One bad weekend can really do you in, but as Scorpions showed last year, can be overcome. The results from Aviator also show just how important the home field advantage is to PDA. Does anyone have the GU16 scores from Lancaster yesterday? That will tell a lot about those teams in the north division who still have a chance at at playoffs and automatic berths (top four) next year.
          Stars United 3
          East Meadow 0

          Stars United 8
          STA 1

Were the injured players back? Do you know the scores of the other games at Lancaster?

I was told that Stars still had two players out. I believe Alleycats beat STA and East Meadow beat Alleycats. Not sure of the scores.

Good point. If games were played at Lancaster, PDA might have been heading back to NJ with 2 losses.

The Syosset people (you included) came on here droning on about their win against Montclair at Jefferson and how you've rocketed up the rankings.. You've been given all the advantages e.g how many trips up north you are making this year, your coach being allowed to call a game last week because of lighting meanwhile a depleted United team had to play PDA. You're still 0-2-1 and fighting with East Meadow for the 5th spot. Good luck winning the Sub region next year unless they make an exception for you and put you in the South.

By the way...I watch real soccer every week. That's one of the advantages of being in Massachusetts. Being from Long Island I don't think you know what real soccer is.

Long Island version of good soccer. A forearm in the back and biased reffing. Look what happens to a LI team when someone under 80 officiates the match. Ha!

If the reported scores from yesterday's games are accurate then the current standings are -

PDA GP 5 - 11 pts (Syossett and East Meadow games remain)
Rovers GP 5 - 11 pts (Scorpions and United games remain)
Scorpions GP 4 - 10 pts (Alleycats, Rovers and United games remain)
United GP 4 - 7 pts (Alleycats, Scorpions and Rovers games remain)
East Meadow GP 4 - 4 pts (PDA, STA and Syossett games remain)
Alleycats GP 4 - 3 pts (Scorpions, United and Syossett games remain)
Syossett GP 3 - 1 pt (Alleycats, PDA, STA and East Meadow games remain)
STA GP 5 - 0 pts (East Meadow and Syosset remain)

East Meadow and Syossett are playing each other in East Meadow. Should be interesting.

That may not be right. Being listed first on the game listing doesn't mean that you are providing the field or providing the field doesn't make you listed first. Does anyone know where that game will be played?

Tie bereakers in the premier league are:

                              head to head
                              most wins
                              goals against
                              goals for
                              fewest red cards

There is no clarification on three or four way ties. Basically if the Rovers or Scorpions win out (they still play each other) they will get a spot in the play-offs. If the United wins out, they would likely gain a spot but they could be knocked out if Syosset beats PDA and it was a three way tie with Scorpions, Stars United and PDA. PDA has the easiest schedule with only Syosset having much chance to do damage. It would be a shock to see them finish with less than 16 points. Rovers have the toughest road with a very difficult weekend facing both United and Scorpions, but lets face it, they are clearly the most motivated squad in the group. They have the edge in the GA tie breaker but the tie to East Meadow hurts them with the most wins breaker. Scorpions are the only team from Mass that can survive by not winning out and could move on with just two ties next weekend, so long as the Rovers don't beat the United. The tie to Syosset really killed the United. The results from Brooklyn probably kept them alive but they have to win out and could use some big wins in the last three games. Syosset isn't really even much of a spoiler as only a lopsided victory over PDA would change much for the others. They are now fighting to stay in the top four and need some help with the Rovers/United/Scorps games. They also need to watch out for an East Meadow team that could easily gain an upset in the last weekend.

This goes to show that defense not only wins games but retains the possibilities in playoffs. Even against STA the team that has not won a single game United gave up a goal (although STA did score twice against Scorpions). These two Mass teams have something to work on.
