I think that's what they call a distinction without a difference. LOL

Schadenfreude has become pervasive in our culture. Rather than admire achievement and emulate to be successful, it's become ingrained to gain by someone else losing.

Most of it I don't care about but definetly seen parents manipulate to boost up their kids and undercut others and attempt to mess with little kids confidence. It's a shame, there are good situations out there you just have to find them for your kid.
Amazing how a call to a coach changes everything.

For all the talk of coaches, refs and even players, over my years of club soccer, I've seen anywhere from a loose cannon to herds of parents destroy teams at every level.

Ego on the touchlines is a very bad thing.

            You nailed it.

I'm reminded of U.S. Women's Soccer team in London last summer. They all seemed to genuinely like each other (ok, maybe not Hope Solo). Unless they're also awesome actresses, they all reveled in each other's great plays and playmaking abilities. The really best players always want to share the field with those who are as talented as or even more talented than themselves because that's what it takes to make it to the top. It's more the average players, and their parents, who gloat when others screw up.

Your right! Why do parents call coaches in an attempt to sway their decisions to benefit their kids? I continuously see kids without or mediocre talent being rewarded for "laziness."

Only an idiot coach or a coach who doesn't care about his win/loss average would let a parent of a mediocre player call the shots.
