Why do soccer moms become so insecure and jealous when another player out performs or gets more attention then their child?

Its a chick thing. Ever see the Lifetime movie about the cheerleader mom who had her daughter's cheering rival killed or Dance Moms? They make the soccer moms look tame.

I'd suggest keeping your child focused on their progress and be supportive even to those who might be better. The "better" player might not be "better" 1,2,3 years from now and could even get a soccer ending injury. There is nothing wrong in acknowledging when one doing good as long as your child is giving all they can. Sometimes kids are changing and their time will come.

Jealousy is ruining Youth sports. This is happening on our team now. A group of Moms ganging up on one kid. Turning their own kids against this one player. Constantly selling their own. Sickening.

Most of it I don't care about but definetly seen parents manipulate to boost up their kids and undercut others and attempt to mess with little kids confidence. It's a shame, there are good situations out there you just have to find them for your kid.

I've watched the team Mom get players who play her kid's position cut, and get our kid moved to another position.

Any coach who would fall for that is just an idiot. Team managers should have no input whatsoever in coaching decisions. If your TM is running the show leave.
Regarding the jealousy issues it is rampant and its more the backstabbing that goes on particularly with girls teams and their moms comparing playing time and doing everything possible to make sure the new or better player is painted in the worst possible light. Daughter joined a team in winter. There is one girl -- mom is as described above -- who has been told by her mom numerous times not to pass to my daughter. It has been going on for months.

This stuff happens all the time. The problem the people who put in the effort to manipulate the system also put in the effort to win the hearts and minds. It's little kids playing a game. Unfortunately too much money ccorrupts many clubs and too many parents are way too involved.
