US soccer does not cater to private schools like ECNL Clubs do especially in MA. More kids in public school. ECNL is motivated to change to grad year for recruiting. US soccer is motivated by participation which means they will focus on age cut off allowing most kids to play w kids from same grade for equity, carpool, social factors and removal of trapped 8th graders also leading to drop out. Going by age cutoff around the majority of public schools in the country if you add them up you will end up with Sept 1- Aug 31 as your new cut off dates.

If you are not going to go straight grad year, then you have to change the rules so that trapped players can officially talk to college coaches in 10th grade…and dont give me the “they can unofficially talk now bs”…the college process is a really hard one and those players will have a much more compressed window. If you dont at least acknowledge that, then you dont really understand the issue. Otherwise, grant waivers to reclassed kids who are already in high school and set more stringent restrictions for 2012s and beyond.

Nobody cares about stupid held back kids. Have fun at your private school doing private school things. Everyone else is ignoring you.
If your kid is any good have them play against kids their age just like everyone else does.

ECNL will be in a Grad year model by Fall 25 or 26 at the latest. They will definitely have rules around it but it just makes so much sense for kids trying to get recruited for college. Those kids should be able to play with a few hold backs and hold their own. The switch back is not because Q 3/4 players are younger it’s because of trapped player issues (Trojan horse) ECNL wants to align with college recruiting. They will get what they want.

Unfortunately the snowplow parents don't understand that changing to SY won't change anything.

9/1 with accommodations for Aug kids in wrong grade.
Eliminate trapped players with exception of kids held back.
This is logical.
