Again, you're all whistling past the graveyard or stuck in your little ECNL girldad echo chamber. Simply dismissing MLSN as some insignificant side act is pure politicking. MLSN has 150+ of the top boys clubs in the country. Sure in some places (TX?) ECNL might still be the stronger league, but this is a MA board and here in MA MLSN is king. That's true in other parts of the country too. ECNL is all but dead here. The point is that it is a league with many top boys clubs, the dominant league in at least some parts of the country, and those clubs are unlikely to have their top team stay BY while having all their other teams SY. Some of those other teams are even in leagues like NAL which were established with the very purpose of serving as the league where MLSN clubs could put their 2nd teams with the idea that it would be a feeder league for MLSN. I imagine there are similar structures in other parts of the country where other leagues serve as the home for MLSN clubs' 2d teams (EAs, EDP, USYS National League, etc.) Whatever decision is made for MLSN is likely to affect all these other 2d and 3d team leagues as well. And at some point the balance tips, and everyone says screw it, let's just keep all the boys BY.

No, the MLSN level is similar to ECNL. We are in Socal. And we do not even care about it.

If MLSN stays BY, they might attract Q1-Q2 ECNL boys who do not want to play against older kids. That might compensate for losing Q4 kids to ECNL so it's a wash. Don't see why MLSN would want to comply. Might be even more attractive to kids born early in the year.

MLSN won't lose Q1 or Q4 players because they're the top league for boys/mens soccer.

This is unique to San Diego or California. In New England there is a clear and wide talent divide between MLSN and ECNL Boys in favor of MLSN.

This is a MA part of the forums so I get the MA centric view but in the grand scheme of soccer in the USA MA and New England in general are a pimple on the ass of the sport. No one nationally cares what league has the most boys or girls in MA, the numbers and quality here are a drop in the bucket compared to FL/TX/CA where they play outdoors all year round.

It seems highly unlikely that ECNL would continue to cover it in its podcast (since May) and that US Soccer, US Club, DPL and numerous clubs would be issuing statements if it weren't happening. It's all just a matter of details at this point and this week they finally offered up that they're looking at 8/1 or 9/1. Who knows what MLSN will do but it affects a pretty small minority of players either way.
