That's the only thing that will improve them

      Michelle Chesters works for SOCAL.

And the league is being spelled SOCAL not "So cal"

Either way this is just a fact finding email. They appear to be getting SOCAL member clubs to provide their opinion on the BY v SY topic. I'd assume if the feedback aligned with what SOCAL would like to do they'd provide it to US Club Soccer would would then provide to US Soccer.
It’s definitely real. I know many clubs are not in favor of a change and even the SOCAL league itself. They do not want to deal with the disruption. However I don’t know if that will be a good enough reason to stop things as I don’t think US club is taking that as a real reason.

I knew it was a fake by the way it was written. It was/is obvious whoever wrote it was not from the west coast.
So were you looking for them to say “hella” or something? East coast people have a history of moving west.

Maybe it queued them into the problem more then, but if you think they did that because those kids were not going to get everything they ever wanted out of the sport, then you are crazy. I don’t believe in talent anymore. Sport is pure politics and it takes a lot to overcome that.

It's because you called "SOCAL Leage" "So cal league" numbnut.

Funny thing is…a club technically doesn’t need to change anything about their rosters if they don’t want to with this change. You are just forfeiting opportunity to make your team better. It was different the prior time. Now leaving your roster as is just means more are playing up. Perhaps they want to play that way. It’s not like anyone wants to win, it’s about development.

Politics and money. A club can’t grow if it doesn’t bring in new families. New families won’t join unless they are promised something better than they already have, whether their kid has the skills or not.

just job hopping, new hires are typically (always) paid more than their peer group already with the company.

So if this plays out, MLS next clubs would have teams with different age ranges. Their MLS next teams would be true calendar and other teams operating in other league would potentially be this fake calendar year. What a mess to administrator. Just leave it all on birth year to confirm with international standards.

100%. All this to save trapped players? My daughter was in the trapped age band after the prior change and hade no issues being recruited for D1

Whenever a classic league like GA gets remade, I am skeptical of it. When you take a movie that’s so iconic and well-done, it seems impossible to do a good job remaking it. This was certainly the case for the new nonsense. It was all over the place. Overall, the acting was just not there. I understand that soccer is intended to be a corny movie, but in the original each actor brought their own edge to the film, where this new version featured a cast that was trying too hard to be like the original, lacking their own sense of humor and edge.
Your daughter was especially lacking in this version. I don’t believe she is talentless by any means; however, I don’t think she is fit to play a position like Drogba. She has a very nice singing voice, but her acting for this film was over the top. She tried to be fast paced when she delivered her lines, but it wasn’t comical; instead, it was annoying.

Can’t leave it because MLSN doesn’t want to change. That would then leave clubs to decide to stay with two systems. Which isn’t really that big of a deal.

leave him/her alone. Likely a club owner/director trying their best to deflect from the fact that 15-20% of spots on top couple of teams are set aside for new families to ‘grow the club’ a/k/a the bottom line. $$$$ it’s just a business. Connections help. Willing to bounce clubs also helps.

But this isn’t the international standard. There are not teams for each birth year, there are 2 year age ranges with calendar cutoffs.. Countries like England are SY. They are better than us. We should aspire to be better.

Since there is little intraseason movement between MLSnext and lower leagues available for B teams, it really doesn’t matter. One can always operate a team based on calendar year within a SY system. Let’s not pretend admins care about the B team results
