I gotta say, kudos to the ECNL podcast crew for realizing that they started a frenzy across these online forums and giving an update, even if the update is mostly "yes, it's still being discussed."

He made it seem like it’s a definitive maybe lol but I think he said more than likely he thinks the change will happen.

A lot of parents are going to be shocked when the switch to SY happens. ECRL players and preGA players will in fact play on national teams in their actual school year cohort. You're dreaming if you aren't prepared for some serious shuffling in the first 1-2 years. That's why ECNL/GA will implement the change as soon as possible.

Of course entire RL teams aren't moving but the top 4-5 ECRL players will shift.

Some RL players can be bench NL players. When they play down, they will dominate.

While true, that Surf poster may be correct. Looking at the ECNL website briefly, some clubs appear to have either a lot of trapped players across all age groups, or very few across all. It's as if the club's philosophy shows in those numbers. My daughter is at an ECNL club with very, very few trapped players on NL teams. We play fast and physical, coaches definitely favor big, fast girls, so no shock that there are few young ones. They seem to be aware of it though, and keep way more than expected for RL teams. RL teams are very good, and expectations are clear that girls are expected to be developing to join the team ahead of them.

That’s because those jerks simply demote anyone with a fall birthday regardless of skill displayed. I’ve seen it plenty of times.

Will be mostly Sept to December kids trying out. The Jan to July kids won’t be moving unless they get displaced.

RL kids are typically there for a reason and it’s not because of some mysterious 4 month age gap. Mostly that’s a myth RL parents are telling themselves. You’ll be surprised how little this will matter if it ever does. Watch an ECNL game and watch a ECRL game they’re different. Just because you have success at the RL level doesn’t mean you will at the NL level. Unikely to happen but if it does, you’ll be surprised how little this will change anything
