This is going to mess up the carefully curated team of marginal players that I’ve been keeping together for years. I’ve ignored better talent trying out for years, but this will force me to make changes because it will push some of my players down and pull others up. How will I be able to politically afford what happens next if I actually have to pick up the best players at tryouts? - Large ECNL club club coach in CT.

Are you saying that 4 trapped white 07 players are good enough to play on the Blue 2026 team if birth year to grade year happens?
And that same Blue 08 team has six 09s playing on the team?
So would those six 09s get displaced by the four trapped 07s from the White team?
No I'm saying that team is unusual because it has many roster spots taken by an unusual group of extremely talented younger girls who aren't going anywhere. In many other cohorts trapped White National players could easily play Blue National a grade down and trapped Blue Regional players could easily play White National or even Blue National. The shuffling will be more widespread in the younger groups because the current 08 teams will be mostly seniors by the time this happens.

Everything is staying birth year so none of this matters. Until someone gives one credible source who has said it’s happening.

And Regional players would probably be National players when playing in their school year bracket. Is that the scenario everyone is worried about?
A few players here and there trying out for the next year down definitely does not constitute a free for all. There will be spots open there from their Q4s who shift. And every year new ones come in from the outside and hard decisions are made. Same stuff as always.

In this specific case the 09s aren’t moving down if there is a change. Regardless, have you counted how many trapped Blue 07s would slide to the 08s before the trapped White players move? The 2007 White is a good team but they aren’t displacing the trapped 07Blue players or they would already be on Blue. And to think they are going to displace kids on the 08 team that just went to the national semi finals also doesn’t seem plausible.

Same for every other year, even more so because 2007 White is the only team not in the conference basement. Trapped Blue’s will all trade places on the Blue teams. Trapped Whites will trade places on the White teams. There may be an exception but it will not be common.

More likely scenario is that most HS kids don’t move, probably only bench players in search of greener pastures. A bench player would see the change as an opportunity while the starter on a team would see it as a demotion. Stars would build its young ECNL teams with the new GYs and transition it that way.

There is more to the world than 07, 08 and 09 Stars girls, hard to believe I know.

lol you people and your fantasy land. You’re going to keep this this thread going to just make yourselves feel good. Nothing is changing. But it’s funny to read your groupthink. Maybe you all can get together and convince yourselves the Easter bunny is coming.

The comment literally not figuratively said that none of those 09s were moving which is what made that team an anomaly. Most Blue players won't want to move which is why the movement will be trapped White National and Regional Blue players to Blue/White National teams in their graduation year

since when has the Easter bunny been fake?
Next you’re going to say the tooth fairy isn’t real?

It’s happening. But I’m not thrilled. Our trapped 8th grader has essentially been the youngest on her team for years often. It the starter but it has given her so much extra edge to be the hardest working smallest player on the team. Now she’s going to have to play with 2011s? She will be playing down as she’s a high level
player. I mean the 11s only went 11 v 11 last year and she did that two years ago. Some see it as an advantage that Q4 kids get to now be the Q1 kids with their own grade I see her being bored.

No one is going to force a starter to play down. And get back to us when she is a junior.

If all the teams shuffle your daughter isn' t going to be a unicorn she'll be a starter on a team in her graduation year. If she is truly amazing she'll still play up but there will also be bigger stronger girls who were trapped on an older team that will drop down and potentially replace her. Coaches don't have to make kids play in their graduation year but it allows them to curate the best teams from all kids in the same graduation year. It worked beautifully for a long time until USSF made a huge mistake that negatively impacted everyone but kids with January birthdays.

I agree better to be the best and grow with a team in her GY than drop down and be the new kid her junior year when the team is tight. I think after the first year teams will be much more stable.

Do you think a girl starting on the NEFC 07 team wants to get demoted to the 08 team? Insert any other club name or birth year and ask the same question. Even this years trapped group, any of you 2010 starters want to get moved to the 2011s?
