ECNL wants to switch back to school year from birth year

Nobody would have a dad’s phone number from 50+ miles away…there aren’t enough ways to make connections like that between parents and coaches. Most coaches run away from parents after games.

So 2010 Fall-born Mia-the-superstar drives from Springfield to Lancaster to train with her White REGIONAL team and is now getting recruited by FSA for next year's 9th grade team and she thinks she's too good for the 2011 White national team.

I'm not in MA, but have been drawn to the thread because its a big topic in my home state as well, but more offline. Coaches are actively "checking in" on kids that might be trapped. There are a lot of soccer clubs in our area and its not uncommon here for coaches to move around or kids to go to camps where they generally know most of the better kids in the area in an age group (my daughters HS team has kids that play at 6 different ECNL, RL or GA clubs).

Coaches are actively sniffing around as I've gotten quite a few "hey - how's it going with her club - she's a late fall birthday, right?" in conversations at games, tournaments, or texts for my youngest over the last month or so.

I'm in the same boat. Q4 player thats being recruited for NL teams. People claiming this isnt happening are dead wrong. My kid is doing zoom calls with 3 different teams.

How long before the new Q4 players are only 10% of rosters on NL teams?

This is why US soccer or clubs for that matter simply cannot afford to delay a season after voting. If they think this is messy to deal with, then a slow moving car crash will be worse.

Agree. The karen possie at my local ECNL watering hole is going to lose it. I can recall many excuses that there kids were on the struggle bus because of the dredded June Birthdate.... They are about to lose it.

Directors in my area are being more cautious but it is definitely being talked about everywhere in my state. Seems like a ton of smoke for there not to be some fire to it. My son is one of the top players in our state in his age group but is a December birthday, our club director brought this up to us months ago...we didn't even know it was being discussed. He has mostly played up since he was 8 and there has always been a noticeable size difference but this year has been drastic as far as the disparity in physical attributes...he competes but there is only so much he can do with skill vs size and speed.

There are two potential outcomes to the vote. It only makes sense to prepare and 'talk' about each outcome. Doesnt mean one is definitely happening. We have two presidential candidates. Both are being talked about. Talking about one of them doesnt mean that the outcome is already decided.

How many other ECNL clubs have been calling you and texting you about your son and inviting him to practices and Zoom calls?
