I’m still confused how that works for kids who reclass. You have kids who are more then a year older then everyone else and some reclass twice, so in that case more then two years. Now you have those bigger older and stronger kids receiving the accolades and invites because they are the strongest in their grade. What’s next… boys can play on girls teams and dominate. Yah. All sounds stupid. Most kids are trapped because their parents wanted them to be the biggest in their grade…. Most were given a choice when they started school which grade they want to enter. The whole poor Mia isn’t with her friends is her parents fault.

Why would parents hold there kid back to gain an advantage on the soccer field? I would assume it's academics

Literally you check a box that says 2029 and every year you play with and against other kids graduating in 2029. Period. Done. No ambiguity. How are people struggling with the concept?
Also holding kids back isn’t easy we tried to hold my son back after Covid and the school said no way.

One protects against red-shirting, and one doesn't. In my opinion, the date-based protection is needed for younger age groups, but then it could be strictly grade-based once kids hit high school.
