This idea of there about European superiority is in the eyes of the beholder when you start to compare leagues. Is EPL the best more competitive? How many players from other leagues come to EPL and are total failures. Does that mean La Liga, Bundesligia , Seriale A, Ligue 1 are inferior in comparison. American Pulisic/McKINNIE are dominating in Seriale A but failures in EPL. Now Euro snob wants to compare these leagues with colleges. Makes absolutely no sense. College soccer is about American culture. To change the substitution rules for the reason snob stated is a reach and makes no sense. It will have no bearing about players playing professionally after college.
Just watch a European game from the 30+ years ago - the play was horrible. The way they act like it's always been this "beautiful game" for a century is pure hilarity. I guess, according to the EuroSnobs, that wasn't soccer/football either....

(But, I do understand the rational behind changing the rules)

The American women who are primarily college players have dominated womens soccer for over 25 years within the confines of no substitution rules. Now all of a sudden you want it extended to the womens side. Just another example of opinion over facts and data that show otherwise. Let’s just change because that’s what is proper football….i mean soccer!!!

Well, yes, they WERE the dominant team for 25 years. They no longer are, and one obvious reason is we are behind the technical game, and being reliant on pure athleticism no longer works.

The women’s game DOES actually prepare a players for a pro pathway. I can understand the Men’s side argument as that game is just fancy intramural and usually the last stop before a real job. Makes total sense for the women’s D1 game to adopt this rule and align with the pro game. My guess is there would be significant pushback from programs that historically have serious depth. Dorrance will go Sagan if this were to happen.

However, most D1 schools receive tax dollars. Because of this they should be preparing players to play professionally.
You would be wrong. That is not the purpose of D1 sports. Quit repeating a falsehood.

I just they would not allow subs on the other team's throw ins (unless that team is subbing too) or at least limit that in the last 10 minutes or so.

The USWNT just won the Olympics with a coach who had them together for eight practices. There isn’t a team in the world going to beat this line-up for the next two WC cycles.

Just re-reading this comment is a great example of someone giving their opinion without it being factual. Women’s college soccer like any other college sport is first and foremost about being a student-athlete and preparing for your next 40 years after four years of college. The pro pathway has been changing in the last few years if you have been paying attention. Many have completely bypassed college and have turned professional out of high school /club soccer. Many have also become professional after a year or two of college. The pro pathway is for a very select few with 99%. My guess is you do not have a daughter playing college soccer.

It was a great win, however Euro national teams dont care about Olympic games soccer, women or man. it is World Cup or Euro that counts .

Really? So those other countries that participated in the Olympics didn’t care about winning? Then why did they send their best teams. So the Copa America doesn’t count either? You should rethink that statement.

What does that tell you about how people will view the current state of play 30+ years into the future.

You should worry about the doms more than the subs in euro play.
