If we haven’t gotten an offer by the day the coach said we would get them, is it a bad sign? Don’t want to bug coaches as I know they tend to roll out offers but, we need to know if we should tryout at another club, accept another offer etc. offers often are given with a 48-72 hour acceptance window. Uncomfortable reaching out to club.

You are really late in the game reaching out to another club now.
You either need to reach out to your coach, reach out to another club, or both.

If you already have offer in hand you can tell your coach and see what they say. It’s a gamble. My feeling is if your kid doesn’t get an offer on the first day your club said they are rolling out offers your kid is likely not going to be getting much playing time IF they get an offer. I’d look around. Tryouts are happening this week at several clubs. Call around they save spots. You don’t want to get a later offer it means your kid is not valued player and they aren’t going to have a good experience sitting on the bench.

Call your current club and ask. It’s not like you are trying to gain something or play politics, you are asking a simple and direct question.

If you can’t stand the wait, reach out to a new club and start the process. If your current club gives you the offer you want, stop the process. Take some control, you will feel better.

If the process involves going to tryouts at other clubs, be careful. All the coaches know each other. As soon as they hear what team your player is currently on, there’s no reason for them not to reach out to your current coach and tell them their player is coming to a tryout. They can say, “just want to find out how this player is doing” then boom your coach knows and you risk losing your spot on current team if you were going to get one. Remember these guys hang out, play soccer together.

All of the best players on each team already have offers.

                  This is complete garbage.

But the players on the team and the players at the tryout do talk or can get around. Don’t worry about it. The clubs need the players more than the players need the clubs. there is desperation at just about every team.

I get it. We are stressed too. We were told May 13th. Here it is 2pm and it doesn’t look good. We get that coaches are busy, but so are parents. Juggling our jobs and kids schedules which are more than just soccer, and just one player. If one of our kids doesn’t get an offer it affects the whole family. Do we take all the kids to go tryout at a new club? Can we manage a couple different clubs? Do we need to skip
practice this week and head to another clubs tryouts? It’s very hard on families, more than the coaches know. After a while we feel unimportant and our kids are pawns. If clubs are desperate to keep players, they should send out offers or cuts to returning players by May 1 so players can make decisions and families can
plan for all of their kids.

A couple years ago, this happened to my then high school aged daughter. They kept her waiting until end of May while they entertained new prospects and waited for them to accept or decline. In the end, they ended up cutting my daughter, offering her a spot on their lower team which was awful, and we missed tryouts at other clubs not to mention how hard it is to land a spot on an existing high school team. Forced her to quit soccer altogether. She went to college for rowing.

                        Many clubs did.
Stars is a special kind of sadism.

I don’t think this is garbage. Players, parents and coaches all talk so if you attend other tryouts and practices it will be known. How your current coach responds to it is what matters. Some coaches will hold a grudge and not give an offer and others will talk to you to understand why you are looking. If the first happens then you are better somewhere else anyway. Take it as a sign.

It is complete garbage. The post was about coaches talking to each other about players during the tryout season. There is no coach around that will contact another coach about a player that is interested in their club.

Word gets around other ways, but that was already stated.

Don’t be so sure coaches don’t talk. That is naive to think that. They love to screw each other so they absolutely will mention it that coach. They won’t call and ask how the players is but they will tell each other.
