Thats how it works. Currently theres a limited number of top clubs. If you add more clubs into the mix the top clubs have to fight harder to collect talent and they wont be able to chew up and spit out talent when they find something better. Also parents will realize that driving over an hour to practice is stupid when quality options are available locally.

More clubs in a league is a win for players and parents. Its a win for the newly added clubs. Its a lose for existing clubs that relied on being a big fish in a small bowl. Overall though more competiton will bring more players into the sport which will evolve the game.

Soon none of this will matter because foreign Acadamies training women will force NWSL into setting up local Acadamies. When this happens all the top talent from all the top girls teams will get recruited for playing pro.

That’s a great analogy that these “newby” ECNL parents do not want to hear. There club has been rejected for so many years and all of a sudden they become good enough? If the top tier ECNL clubs decides this is too much they will leave as they did with GDA. There is no upside for the top ranked/top rated clubs in all four regions to remain in a changed league business model. This leagues reputation was built because of the reputation of those founding clubs. The league needs them more than these clubs needs this league. The people who run these top tier clubs are smart business people and they will determine there future.

LOLOL, the academy argument is back! If you haven’t noticed with the players on the most recent USWNT that included a 16 year old the NWSL and European leagues are doing fine without getting involved with youth soccer. Swanson, Shaw, Rodman, Horan, Gaetino, Moultrie, Yohannes are all players who jumped to playing professional without an academy. Safe to say NWSL Academies is a TS parents dream.

There are scarce few real talents out there. Adding more ordinary players and clubs does nothing except bring in more profits. It’s no longer about quality. I can’t throw ECNL into that because they only added 4 clubs and those clubs have good reputations. ECRL and GA are pure money grabs.

Yes I am an ECNL dad. Does it make what I said false?

Real ECNL parents don’t feel the need to act superior and put down ECRL. They know their kid is one bad game away from being out on an ECRL team. We are parents of ECRL player and feel that we have strong friendships between national and regional as our daughter guests in national. So if you are truly an ECNL dad you know that your comment was untrue about ECRL. They are not a money grab. Kids get great training and opportunities and many play college soccer. Not sure how that a money grab.? My guess is your a ulittle 2011 dad who has a player at Scorpions…. enough said.

So you're kid plays in ECNL and you think ECNL is better than all other leagues and that all other leagues are money grabs. Who could have guessed?

Why don't you suit up next time your daughter plays? You clearly want to fight soccer battles for her.

The truth is both GA and ECNL are expanding (like it or not). They're doing this because if they don't other groups will take the market over. You can argue that competition is all that matters but at the end of the day leagues are businesses. The bigger they get the more $$$ they make.

                    ECNL added 4 clubs.

                    GA added 18 clubs.

You don’t have to be impartial to make conclusions with those numbers.

You need to look at the number of ECRL teams ECNL has added.

I still have a hard time understanding how more clubs changes anything in GA. The best clubs will continue to win and go to finals. The worst clubs will continue to lose. (Just like in ECNL)

The 4 that ECNL added were GA champions league clubs. The 18 that GA added are patsies. The league is a joke.

Why do we need to look at the clubs ECRL added? ECNL clubs won’t be playing those clubs.

                          Sigh...

ECRL is supposed to be where ECNL evaluates new clubs for inclusion in ECNL.

It matters to you because adding a bunch of ECRL clubs implies that ECNL is planning to continue expanding.

ECNL as a business was always going to expand. If expansion is done by adding teams to ECRL, then I don't see any issue for the current ECNL teams; especially considering ECRL teams are rarely promoted to ECNL.

Ok so youre saying that dilution/expansion is okay when ECNL does it?

But for everyone else it's a "money grab".

                              Do you see the hypocrisy?

As the person who wrote the comment you responded to, I wasn't the one who called the GA/ECRL money grabs. I was just trying to say that the recent ECRL expansions doesn't have any impact on ECNL.
