What if anything can be done about an ECNL team that is insanely “physical” no joke to the point of assault. We have played a NY Team three times and have left with separate kids having torn ACL, a broken collarbone, fractured ankle, and multiple concussions. I get soccer is not a game for the weak but this is just extreme. And the refs are useless from 80 year old men to teenagers. I honestly thought the family of the girl with a broken collarbone should have called the police.

The problem is their coach, but also your coach for being a coward about raising the problem with the other coach; and your club, who should bring it up with the other club.
There is no excuse for playing in a way that will end players’ season or (for recruiting age players) their career.
There must be film of the games, have another look, put together a lowlights video.

Not for nothing, but your team needs to stick up for themselves. If someone on my D's team took a cheap whack and was injured, I can guarantee she would return the favor two-fold. That ends it real quickly.

Possession is how you break down physical teams.
Make them chase the ball the entire game with short passes.
Eventually you'll wear them out + their defense will leave a passing lane open + you'll score.
Once they're too tired to run they'll also be to tired to foul.

To the poster calling me an amateur, while you are taking notes and getting videos and waiting for the league to do something (which rarely happens), there is a game going on and players are going down. Teach your kid to not run and hide and stand up for themselves, and their teammates.

My son has sorted out situations like this on the field several times. It has always looked legal. It has always been effective. Each time he told the player he was coming for him before it happened.

But I guess that's my question if someone hits a player after the ball has moved on why isn't that assault? Especially if they seriously hurt the player.

And what brought this up is two players who wont be able to start practice in November because they are still dealing with the repercussions of their injuries. .

Send the opposing club a copy of the medical bills. They likely have no idea how much liability they are taking on regardless of insurance or waivers. Willful ignorance won’t allow those tools to work in the legal system. Their insurance carrier will drop them should it be as you describe.
