People are going to remember this incident much longer that her ISL scoring record, or her being named to the WNT pool. Cautionary tale.

Secondly, she may be out looking for a job that doesn't involve soccer one day, I'd scrap the twitter motto if I was her.

I spoke to my daughter about this incident when she was home from college this weekend thinking it might not be a bad idea to reinforce the message I assumed her coach had already given her team regarding the use of social media.

Her reaction when I read a couple of the posts was "wow, that is incredibly stupid” and "no one one from her team would ever do that", so clearly this was not the teachable moment I thought it might be. I then told her who posted the tweets and she just shook her head and said “no surprise”.

I have no editorial comments to add.

Question though...why is it relevant who the person was who made the comments; and, why was it necessary to add "no surprise?" I'm sure your daughter has never made a mistake? Y, w all the drugs, alcohol out there...what she did was not right; but, this is a kid who has worked her tail off both in the classroom and on the field? What do you or daughter really know about her, o/s of the fact she probably dropped a few goals on your team at one point? Give me a break...we know the expression: those in glass houses should never throw stones...be careful before tou criticize...go Bacon!

Doesn't anyone in here find it to be slightly pathetic that Sandusky and the Catholic church didn't even get suspended for one "game" for actually diddling children with impunity for over 30 years yet a soccer player who pokes fun at Penn State (well deserved) gets punished immediately? Of course what she did was stupid but we have lost all sense of proportion in this country. But that isn't surprising in a country where 30% of the population believes that a receptionist at an abortion clinic "deserves" to be murdered.

Or are you saying BC (or the player) should have made some sort of financial arrangement instead of not playing?
