What people continue to fail to recognize or acknowledge (including the BC Athletic Admisistration) is that these tweets were wrong - not because they were "offensive" to the Penn State Community or even towards the victims. They were wrong because her tweets help to perpetuate the stigma that gives sex offenders what they want most - control over their victims. That is a concept that is unlikely to be fully understood by a 19 year old, but she (and her teamates and other tweet recipients) should know it now. Rape is a violent, not sexual, crime and it is never funny. Sandusky, and others like him, terrorize victims so those same victims will be subordinate to their attacker. They go undetected (and oten unpunished) because victims feel the pressure to not come forward. These types of sophmoric jokes help maintain that pressure - and that is why they were wrong!

Give me an example of what she tweeted that does exactly that? Because what I've read sure seems to be taking a swipe at the perpetrator and those who covered for him NOT the actual victims.

Or is this just a bitch session based on what you all presume?
I think the tweets were distasteful and insensitive and no doubt an embarrassment to BC, her team and her parents. And she is being punished appropriately by being suspended from the team. None of us know how long she will be suspended or what other punishments have been/will be levied. And frankly it is none of our business.
College age kids are still what I call "emerging adults". They make stupid stupid mistakes on occasion and they can/should learn from them. As a parent I just pray in the course of making these mistakes they don't hurt themselves or others permanently. There are those here of the off with her head mentality that would prefer she be kicked off the team (since suspension is not enough apparently). There's not much worse than suspension from the team that isn't permanent dismissal.
I am so glad the mistakes I made as a kid were not so high stakes - because I am well aware of those I made and what I got away with. Just like most posters here - I was not perfect and my kids aren't either. I posted earlier that every six months or so each of them prove to me just how unfinished they are through some display of stupidity and lack of judgment. I know full well what I've explained and the values that I've tried to teach them and sometimes I have to wonder where they were while I was being so parental. I've come to the conclusion that sometimes - especially when they are carried away by emotion of some type - they are not themselves and forget what they've been taught for a short time. Then they come back to normal regretting whatever it is they did - and perhaps - in a case like this paying for it in some way.
Good luck to the parents out there - and to the kids.

According to the AP (upon which most of the other news reports are based), there were 10 tweets delivered over a roughly 24 hour period. The last post was @ 4Pm Thursday, and the twitter account had been delated by 5:45 of that night. Only three of those tweets remain via the Onwardstate web site that began this "story". That site also perserved the responsive tweet by football player Sean Sylvia, although by all accounts there were many other such responsive tweets. Interestingly, Sylvia did not receive any public discipline or reprimand from the BC administration, although he appears to be out of the line-up for today's game with Virginia Tech. Team captain Kristin Mewis was the recipient of at least one of the tweets - as were other members of the team.

Anyone debating the degree of offensiveness of the tweets is a complete moron - and probably has never held a position of authority, a position involving concepts of ethics and compliance and most importantly a position that involved the shepherding of children or young adults on a sports team, classroom or any other setting.
Simply stated, if the basis for the suspension escapes you because you're lost in the details of the tweets themselves, you just don't get it.

Given how BC limped into the tournament, and given that PSU was 18-3-1 and playing at home, maybe SM should have been a little more focused on the soccer game.

Players are warned at the start of the season that it is an NCAA infraction to write or speak negatively of another player, team or university. She clearly broke this rule. BC was and will be lucky if other players involved participating on Twitter are not implicated and punished. I do not find her posts particularly offensive, but a rule is a rule.
