If I were a member of the PSU student body or faculty, I would not be offended by what McCaffrey, a student athlete headed into a big game with my home team, posted, because as you say, I had absolutely nothing to do with what Sandusky did. I can place the comments in their proper perspective without getting my panties in a twist.

I just love responses like this. The assumption that I would make a comment because she's my daughter or a teammate of my daughter. No, I am strictly an onlooker and as a result have no bias to either school or the players involved. I stand by previous post. The punishment does not fit the crime. I have to wonder if the same punishment would apply if the transgression was by a male athlete on the football or basketball teams at BC. Somehow I doubt it.

You remember when Wes Welker made some offhand remarks about the Jets Coach prior to a big time playoff game. BB benched him.

Some interesting discussion points here and basically on every media thread about this topic. Here in Boston it does make me wonder how the behavior of the BU hockey team has not been punished and that is equally disturbing.

There have been slights about the culture of this team. Is this a reflection? I don't mean is the coach promoting tweets of this kind by any stretch but is there dynamic on this team that almost have a disregard for others. Will this have any repurcussions for the coach?

BU Hockey team not touched?! Several players were kicked off the team and brought up on charges. I agree that more actions are advisable, but some steps have been taken.

The more general point I took is that are males in big time sports immune to such actions? That answer is of course sometimes yes, but no in the case described. If you would like I'll try and dig up a BC case. The first that comes to mind is the male athletes resonding to her tweets. Let's see what happens there.
