Another example is Hope Solo, she speaks the truth, that's why people can't stand it. So they call her a classless #itch. In my opinion, keep talking.
You just don't get it. She has no connection or beef with PSU whatsover. That said, she was free to teach a whole semester-long course on the horrors or PSU if she likes. You just can't go off spouting vulgarities with no provocation just because you can get a rise out of some BC football players. She wasn't attempting any kind of political statement or expressing something that deserved to not be shut up. This wasn't "speaking your mind." This was "losing your mind" or more accurately "functioning without mind."

You are absolutely right. I will never get suspending a college soccer player, for tweeting vulgarities about a convicted felon, from a match against the school that covered it up for 10 years.

She should appeal the suspension. After all, catholics know all about covering things up for years

Imbeciles. How about we all give her a collective pat on the back?

Wow, this thread got a lot of pages quick.

My daughter plays DIII soccer and as a freshman had to attend a social networking workshop with all other student-athletes at her school. It wasn't about just this type of stuff, but also the dangers for females in terms of what they put out there, how they present themselves in terms of employers and graduate schools, and on and on. In addition, each student-athlete at her school has to sign a social networking use agreement that outlines what is and is not acceptable. Again, this is at a DIII.

I am sure that BC has the same type of agreement and that it clearly outlined ramifications for this type of tweet (taunting, disrespectful towards an opponent, etc). I don't know her but I'd guess she wasn't intending to further hurt those already destroyed by the Penn State scandal, and instead was just trying to be the funny, cool kid on twitter. But the suspension was still correct. I'd add to it having her speak to incoming players about social networking as a bit of community service.

And maybe I live under a rock, but what happened to HB at Penn State? I didn't know she left.

If you feel publicly airing vulgarities about an opponent is acceptable in any circumstance then I suppose I am done with this discussion because we have zero common ground.

What she did is not acceptable public behavior. Period.

HB Transfered to Maryland after freshman year. No inside scoop other than the usual TS drivel.

I'm sorry I didn't realize Jerry was going to be playing. He's not the opponent now is he. Now had it been about a player on the opposing side, I'd completely agree.

This has nothing to do with sweeping something under the rug, they would be considered in bad taste if shared among a bunch a guys in a bar - as a student athlete representing BC in a public forum they went WAY beyond bad taste.
Get a life people ...seriously...she absolutely should not have done what she did...but; she made a mistake as is paying a price even w out the frigging suspension...she's high profile athlete and , one of the best players in the country; and a 3.8 GPA or something in the Carroll School of Business...and thus needs to use that much more discretion regardless of how she feels about that vile scumbag....but DO NOT think that that sit. (PSU)SHUD EVER be put under the rug..b/c regardless of the current admnis. and/or students...that (PSU) was a culture that allowed Joe Pa and others to become some of the most powerful people in the entire State...it had become a sick mentality that re arranged conventional priorities in life; w sychophant fans who put football/sports as a culture, abv. human decency...fk PSU! and Fk all of you...she made a mistake...she will recover ...but I suggest you all separate the 2...

If she has a "3.8 GPA", she should know better.

And if she has a "3.8 GPA", I would say there is a little grade inflation at the Heights

It's business school. Let's not confused that with an English Lit, Philosophy or pre-med curriculum.
