You have to believe that after pulling all the players away and they don't win, it has to come down to the coaching........which in this case happens to be the owner, DOC and self assumed God of Soccer....... yes, laughing with you...........

Seems that the AV coach also changed this team's style of play. They were more possession-oriented their u16 year. Whether it's a different roster, different level of competition, or something else, the changes made didn't work out. Still, credit the club for trying. In hindsight, they peaked in about April of u16 year, narrowly finishing atop R1 Northeast League division, then winning the play-in game to automatically qualify for R1 Premier at u17. They didn't challenge themselves in their fall 2012 or pre-season 2013 tournaments the way Blazers, Crusaders United, Knights and Western did. R1 Premier was a struggle, MAPLE lacks depth, and in State Cup they're eliminated immediately, a round too soon. Maybe a Memorial Day weekend tourney awaits, but the worry over which of their players will try to move to the clubs that reached round-robin play has probably already started.

        DR

Don't knock DR; he brought a club from one or two teams to what they are now. They have some quality teams for a relatively young club.

If you have talent on the team and you keep stealing additional talented players from other teams and yet get knocked out in your first round playing in the SC and also end up at the bottom of the R1 league, it all comes down to coaching. Other coaches have done more with less talent and advance further. Knock or not, the coach owns the results of this one.........

What quality teams? The U12 boys in MAPLE blue who have won 3 and lost 3 games and are in the middle of the pack? That is quality?

If DR wants to run with the big dogs, he needs to have results to prove it. One hit wonder does not cut it.........

BU13 are in final 8 of state cup and are close in every game in maple blue; u11s and u10s are solid. I am not saying they are a top club; but they do have some quality. There is a gap in u13-u16 yes totally agree.

haha....gap in U13-U16. That is not a gap that is a lack of quality in the entire club. U10 and U11 are important years but they are developing years. On any given day, a player of that age group can excel or suck. It is what a club does with these players that count. DR does nothing with quality players other than suck the passion out of them

For the number of teams DR has, only one is in the RR, the BU13 team. They are second to last in MAPLE Blue and have yet to win a game. Time will tell how they fare this weekend against much better teams.

With all the players he poached from everywhere else for his U17 team, how could he possibly not even make it to the RR this year? The statement that the U17 boys are still #1 in Massachusetts is still on their site. That is funny. He has a roster of 22 and he cannot find it in him to coach a game to get his team to the RR?

How in the world can his other BU17 team be 2 and 31 (GF & GA) in MAPLE 2? What ever happened to the "Total Football" concept he boasts of on his site? What happened to the great training............... Is he just focusing on one or two teams and just taking money from the rest of the teams?

                    DontGotSoccer

Gotsoccer tells you something about some teams, but plenty of very good teams don't play the tournaments that give you points, don't win the ones they could-should have, or do win one that maybe they shouldn't have.

What you can see is that WUP played a lot more games against ranked teams, and WUP tied a game and won a game against two teams C lost to. Which still just leads to the conclusion that the two teams will need to play each other to see who wins.

WUP Red (accepting the issues with gotsoccer, ranked 25 in region I):
                    Losses to #19, 40 and 51
                    Draws with #7, 51, 91 and 233
                    Wins over #23, 33, 35, 36, 37, 49, 53, 74, 78, 80, and 162
In 18 matches, there seem to be 3 "bad" results: loss to 51 and ties with #91 and especially 233. Some might say only the tie with 233 looks bad.

Crusaders United (#14 in region I):
                    Loss to #7 and 23
                    Draw with #48
                    Wins over #24, 29, 74 equivalent from r2, 81, 92 equivalent from r3, 103, 252 and 326
In 11 matches and an overall less-demanding schedule then wup red, there's maybe 1 bad result, the draw with 48.

Depends on your view, but the number of "bad" results in these 2 examples is consistent with occasionally missing scoring chances, a key call going against you, an atypical mistake costing a goal, that sort of thing. It doesn't feel like inconsistency.

What happened to Benfica? How did they fair remainder of the RR. Knights appeared to have kicked butt, amazingly a mediocre team that knows how to come together when they need to. Obviously, good coaching developing players throughout league play with the end result in good tournament play. I predict at Knights / Blazers final
