Crusaders goes down to Massapequa showcase and plays two high-ranked New York teams...Should be interesting to see how they do after doing so well at Lancaster

I've heard they got #1 in NYW and #5 in NYE. I'm going to guess the #5 team is better just because NYE is far better than NYW.

How'd the new players do for them at Thanksgiving? Were they impact or....?

New goalie did alright..split time with their old keep. However, their new starting forward seems to be a great new addition, with 4 or 5 goals and a big threat on set plays. It looks like he fits in well as a good center forward for their 3 middies

You make seem like he (keeper) didn't do so well. Do you still think he's a good addition for them?

I thought their new keeper did good and he is certainly a good addition for them...or at least he's better than their last goalie, but his impact may be a little overshadowed by their new forward. Afterall, they did let in 2 goals each game

Results seem to show everyone came to play. Reports here on TS seem to say any of these teams could beat one of the others on a given day.

The NYE team is actually #7. Agree with the generalization about NYW and NYE, but looking at who they've played, the NYW team has more impressive results in 2012.

From looking at previous results the MPS Knights actually played a lot of the NYE teams last year, all from #3-7. There was another topic on development over the years. the MPS Knights have a fantastic story on where they came from.

They were out of the blue when they reached state cup semis in 2010, then confirmed they're for real when they won in 2012. Repeating in 2013 will be difficult, though.

Perhaps all those ex pre-academy bolts helped a bit?

Maybe, although those Bolts didn't make it as far in 2010 state cup, the last time Bolts' top team competed there. And a common opinion on the academy thread is that pre-academy doesn't really draw the best players, only the Development Academy (U16 & 18 so far, U14 next year) does.

"All"? There are a couple, but there are ex-bolts on other teams, ex-MPS on Blazers, ex-something newly joining Crusaders United, and ex-NEFC at the core of Abbey Villa, so it doesn't seem that any one team has an advantage when it comes to player turnover.

Update for the two teams at Massapequa: Western United and Crusaders both won their brackets, Western lost in Semis, Crusaders play in championship soon.

No, it would have been an almost unbeatable team but they kept two separate teams.
