Ehh. This type of league wide comments are just stupid. A player joins a specific team.

Remind yourselves how bad the bottom half of ECNL New England is before going off.

Disagree. In today's environment, the teams/clubs are just a vehicle to the desired league.

Parents choose by: league, location, coach, cost. in some order.

Nobody chooses a club for the sake of the club. That's just silly.

Two ECNL clubs are bad out of 9. FSA and Stars White. Depending on the year 3-5 are very good, most often World Class, Stars Blue, and SUSA, The other couple clubs put forth mostly competitive games. SSS will fall in this last category with a team or two pushing the top group. Conversely, GA rarely has a NE team that competes with those top teams, usually has 1-2 in some years that mix in with those competitive clubs. Mostly teams that would struggle with the bottom two ECNL clubs.

Regardless of the specific team, that player is joining a very weak league. GA is generally slower speed of play, and less well rounded teams. They generally play a more direct game that works against less well rounded teams who have weaker, slower defensive players. Yes there are some great players in GA. Yes there have been a couple recent stand out teams in NE. But also yes, GA is declining quickly.

Players from Scorpions, Liverpool, etc and other clubs migrated to RI as they were sick of driving or the drama at ECNL clubs, ie Scorpions. Would love it if those clubs surprised NEFC and gave them a run. Not counting out GA, not calling it a B league as these are strong players not B players, and definitely better than the ECRL “pathway.”
Strong is a relative word. 4 ECNL teams, 5 GA teams, 6 ECRL teams all in the local area account for about 300 kids in each birth year. They are not all strong, and there are so many incremental measures of strength/skill/etc that those players are indeed B players, if not C or D players. You are paying many thousands of dollars a year for team and travel for B/C/D level players, but are so biased and entrenched in your views that you refuse to admit the obvious. Club owners love you for this.

That all sounds about right, although I think it's the first time I've seen someone characterize GA as favoring a more direct game. I don't have enough personal experience with both leagues to say, but other posters have said ECNL focuses more on getting ready for NCAA-style play, while GA still had its GDA heritage of prioritizing possession. Of course, great teams need to be able to switch it up based on the opponent's strengths and tactics.

DA was very focused on possession.
GA tries hard to pretend they are still DA but with a letter switch. They are not.
With the final DA age group (07) moving on to college, you see the overwhelming difference now.

Not sure if it can get worse than last weekend for them. So this guy will claim even a 5-0 butt kicking is a sign that Surf is great.

Nobody said club. You can't even read. No wonder your posts make no sense. But even then, you're wrong.

You all know playing possession vs direct is not based on the league but the coaching styles.

It could definitely get worse if they were playing 30 min halves in the tournament

The coaches I’ve seen in NE GA play direct.
