Looking for some answers on CaptainU. I must have signed my child up for something on this site/ maybe through the club? I receive emails all the time saying a coach looked at her profile or a coach messaged you, however, she has zero access to this (unless you pay). Is this legit? I can't seem to find any answers.

thanks, I understand that. My question is, is this site legit. Acc to this site, there are "messages" from coaches to this account, but she can't access it? I don't want her to not answer/email someone if they think she has access to the account. I was looking for an answer from anyone who knows this site. Thanks!

Recruiting takes leg work
- your kid reaches out to programs that seem to be a good soccer fit at schools that seem to be a good academic fit.
- when they email coaches send a brief bio and 3 minute highlight reel (that they can splice together, doesn't need to be fancy)
- send your upcoming schedule for league games and showcases
- take it from there

some schools actually use these sites and say please send me your captain, ncsa etc
the 2nd part i agree with do your work and that may or may not include these recruiting websites

I am sure there a few success stories out there. I am also sure these sites provide no more value than an email she could send herself. CaptainU: The Pathway to DordtU

I'm not familiar with that site. I will say that TGS provides email addresses to scouts. We've been getting ID clinic emails from all over the country. Some big time schools and some smaller D1's that I've never heard of prior to the email. Since there are so many schools out there, I don't mind getting the emails.
Also, as another poster said smaller schools do troll social media. Most have found us through Twitter and they like and follow. Again, keeping the options open is suggested. Give those little schools a follow back and who knows?

In other words, pick and chose what events you go to carefully. Go to ones where both the soccer and academics seem to be a great fit and preferably where a line of communication has at least been started. You could spend a small fortune attending these and get nowhere if you haven't been targeting well

Most of the recruiting web-sites are worthless with regards to getting your kids "found." But most have pretty good contact management software which makes reaching out to coaches a whole lot easier than doing it manually.
