    CaptainU - what is it?

Looking for some answers on CaptainU. I must have signed my child up for something on this site/ maybe through the club? I receive emails all the time saying a coach looked at her profile or a coach messaged you, however, she has zero access to this (unless you pay). Is this legit? I can't seem to find any answers.

If your kid can play, they will find her. If she can't, spend all the money you want and she will still not be able to play at Regis.

thanks, I understand that. My question is, is this site legit. Acc to this site, there are "messages" from coaches to this account, but she can't access it? I don't want her to not answer/email someone if they think she has access to the account. I was looking for an answer from anyone who knows this site. Thanks!

Don't pay for it. Any coaches that reach out are from no name schools in Oklahoma. Good programs have hundreds of players interested in them and don't need to troll websites for players.

        Recruiting takes leg work

        - your kid reaches out to programs that seem to be a good soccer fit at schools that seem to be a good academic fit.
        - when they email coaches send a brief bio and 3 minute highlight reel (that they can splice together, doesn't need to be fancy)
        - send your upcoming schedule for league games and showcases
        - take it from there

are you sure about the first part because from my experience at the bigger schools or schools with good budgets they have someone "trolling" the sites, especially in the out-of-immediate recruiting areas. They are looking at the completed ones though not the half way done profiles.

some schools actually use these sites and say please send me your captain, ncsa etc

the 2nd part i agree with do your work and that may or may not include these recruiting websites

I am sure there a few success stories out there. I am also sure these sites provide no more value than an email she could send herself. CaptainU: The Pathway to DordtU

I'm not familiar with that site. I will say that TGS provides email addresses to scouts. We've been getting ID clinic emails from all over the country. Some big time schools and some smaller D1's that I've never heard of prior to the email. Since there are so many schools out there, I don't mind getting the emails.

Also, as another poster said smaller schools do troll social media. Most have found us through Twitter and they like and follow. Again, keeping the options open is suggested. Give those little schools a follow back and who knows?

How will you visit and attend all these?

2 per summer. 1 dream school, 1 local school. Showcases will help.

Hate to burst your bubble but everyone gets those generic emails. Unless a letter says "We saw you at This event" or "Your club coach called us" then it's one of the hundreds of emails that go out. By the time an event happens they already have a shortened list of players they're most interested in (either from a showcase or prior communication) and the rest are to pad the team's budget. Some coaches will even separate those top prospects from the rest and you're with the other scrubs. Unless you're really a stand out no one will pay attention to you.

In other words, pick and chose what events you go to carefully. Go to ones where both the soccer and academics seem to be a great fit and preferably where a line of communication has at least been started. You could spend a small fortune attending these and get nowhere if you haven't been targeting well

Most of the recruiting web-sites are worthless with regards to getting your kids "found." But most have pretty good contact management software which makes reaching out to coaches a whole lot easier than doing it manually.

Ah, you fell into their marketing ploy .... cold calling the soccer world to attend their extra cash, summer sessions ... i mean college prospect clinics .... the biggest source of money for college coaches and assistants there is .... they love to cast very wide nets to kids of all ages and abilities to make sure each elite clinic is jam-packed with paying customers .... am betting if 1 kid gets an offer from one of these for a school in a given year it was an odd year .... coaches at decent schools go to tournaments after doing a little basic research and watching of video of prospects. Anyone cold calling a prospect clinic is doing it all wrong. Hard to get noticed with 60 kids (and 3/4 of them cant play soccer).
