Common sense might say people shouldn't drink cow's milk.

The cavity fillings back in the 70's contained? You guessed it.Probably leaching into the body for decades.

Of course we could go on and on on your silly examples... But it's probably not worth the time and energy.
Reasonable people have different opinions on this topic... It's fine.

As far as flu shots go, ask for the one that is preservative free....

How many babies do you know have teeth, never mind filings? The reason that dental amalgam is no longer available in the US is that scientists agree that dental amalgam fillings leach mercury into the mouth. In addition to health issues, opponents of dental amalgam fillings point to the negative externalities of water contamination and environmental damage of mercury. The WHO reports that mercury from amalgam and laboratory devices accounts for 53% of total mercury emissions.
Do you understand why it was used in the first place??? It was used as a preservative so that multidose vials of vaccines could be used instead of single-dose vials, which are more expensive. Cost over safety.
Sarcasm/Hyperbole is lost on so many intellectual wannabees.
I am pretty sure the poster was pointing out the fact that he/she has been exposed to mercury for over 40 years,(does not work in the hat making industry )and is not autistic, demented and can still pick his/her kid out on the soccer field despite the "toxic waste" levels of Mercury reported by "vaccine man"
Lighten up Francis......

Its all fun and games until its your kid (or other close family or friend) who suffers the effects of some diasese or reaction to medication, etc. It is so easy for you all to sit behind your key board and call people crazy, etc. I hope you never know the helpless feeling of watching your child fight for their life, or suffer, only to ask yourself if you'd done everything possible to a) prevent this or b) find out what caused this and how to treat it. I don't mean grasping at straws or looking for people to sue. What I speak of is the desire to explain how something so horrendous could occur so that you might be ablee to help spare another parent/family the emotional devistation.
Please remember too that there are always at least tow sides to every story...
So, while you are sitting behind your computer trying to think of ways to lash out at other posters, might I suggest that you spend some time thanking your lucky stars that your children/family are healthy.

The internet is an unbelievable tool which can be used for amazing educational purposes. Just visit TED or Khan Academy or the MIT free online courses page. It's breathtaking what this technology can offer us.
On the other hand, the junk science on the internet is terrifying. Lots of big words and Sophist reasoning that the lay person can't possibly distinguish from vetted scientific data. That CBS article posted here was a perfect example. It was a trumped up TV story about junk science that will now be sent around by vaccine hysterics as sacred truth for who knows how many years.
Any time anyone on here reads an article that sounds way off the mainstream, google it and read the commentary. It could be brilliant, it could be total bunk. Use your heads. The FACT is that the scientific community has been pounding the vaccine/autism connection with multiple studies all over the world for years. Doctors WANT to know.
If doctors were predominately obsessed with money and power, they wouldn't be in medicine. It is huge work, requires an enormous about of work, an incredibly expensive, time consuming education, and it is for most a lifetime passion. I am not a doctor, but my life has been saved by fine ones several times, and we have numerous doctors in our extended family. I consider the accusation that most of these devoted healers are in the pockets of drug companies to be almost obscene and definitely ignorant. It is also dangerous.
Certainly, education yourself, ask your doctor questions, get second opinions. Doctors are just people. Sometimes they are wrong, and medical diagnosis is a lot like constantly playing sherlock Holmes. It takes brilliance and huge work and experience to get it right even most of the time.
When the hysterics tell you to think, start thinking about them and their sources first. Google is a beautiful tool. Use it wisely, and often.

Just to answer this-common sense says-babies' immune systems are BOMBARDED as soon as they are born-with all of the things they are exposed to via common contact. They come into exposure with bacteria as soon as they pass through the ****** and out into the world. I agree that Hep B vax, the one given at 2 days of life, isn't necessary at that point except in high risk cases. But by two months old an infants immune system is functioning and has been revved up and exposed to all sorts of things. We don't give live attenuated virus to young babies, but 'killed' vaccines, just the outer coats of the viruses, are made to trick the immune system into responding. You aren't actually giving the baby the illness b/c the part that makes them sick has been removed. Be careful of your resources. check out www.nvic.org -this is a site that supposedly educates about vaccines. But even in their polio section, the vaccine they are talking about at the end of the data is the live, attenuated vaccine, which we don't give here in the US. They present the data in such a way as to imply that the vaccine caused these issues in 24000 kids. Very confusing if you don't read carefully.
As far as flu shots go, ask for the one that is preservative free....
Welcome back. I am happy to see that you admit that the Hep B vaccine at birth is unnecessary (other than in rare circumstances where the mother's health status warrants it). It makes you wonder why it is still a recommended vaccine at birth?
Of course babies are exposed to all types of things as they grow. This doesn't mean that we need to unnecessarily add to this load (many vaccines at once, etc). Why are we told not to feed infants honey? Or, why are medications for infants given so much thought as to how much is safe for an infant? Infants are infants with their own set of rules. These rules make sense and yet... when it comes to vaccines, it seems that those "rules" get thrown out the window. Just keep adding those vaccines to the already crowded vaccine schedule. Don't worry about injecting your infant with 3, 4, 5 vaccines at a time. That's no problem. Huh?
As for the NVIC website... That website is typically well thought out so I clicked on the link and went to the polio page to see what you meant. I'm confused with what you are saying because it VERY clearly mentions in at least 2 or 3 places on that page that the live polio vaccine is no longer used in the U.S. I suppose if you only read that one bullet point, there may be confusion but you would have to go back and see why they differentiated between the OPV and IPV vaccine. It really isn't that confusing, so I'm not sure where you are getting that from. Did you read the entire page or just that one bullet point? It's actually very clear. I certainly don't believe everything that I read on any of these websites... Certainly you have to look at all points of view. I can acknowledge that NVIC leans one way (caution about vaccines), but of course, a website like the CDC website will be on the opposite end of the spectrum (vaccines are wonderful). Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.
As for asking for a preservative free flu shot... I assure you I won't be asking for any flu vaccine. Unnecessary. Having said that, why should it be on me (an average citizen) to know to ask for a particular version of a flu shot? It's up to ME to know enough to ask for a vaccine that is mercury free? How does that make sense? We started removing mercury from vaccines back in 1999(ish...) due to safety concerns, and yet in 2012... I have to know to ask for a mercury-free flu vaccine? Are you serious? :) What about all those people out there who actually trust their doctors to recommend the safest drug/medication out there for them. Jokes on them, I guess.

I knew the guy at the market was a little too friendly with the pharmacist,I think they are all in it together in the black market mercury biz.
