Only one club has 2 teams in each age group. Everyone else remained the same (although they did break up the northeast division into New England and North Atlantic—less travel for the MA teams).

Exactly. The number of teams didn't double, at least not here in the NE. It's the B teams rebranded from NPL to ECLR. I don't think all the clubs nationwide had B teams that were playing in something organized like NPL but now all do in ECLR.

Other than Stars and PDA I'm not sure who else has more than one A team inECNL?

OK. This is exactly the problem. Broad generalizations that do not reflect reality and can't stand any objective analysis. Since this is an MA forum, let's focus on the ECNL and GA teams in MA. For ECNL you have FC Stars and Scorpions. For GA you have NEFC and SSS. Currently FC Stars Blue is ahead of FC Stars White and Scorpions in all but U17 (U13 - 2nd, U14 - 1st, U15 - 2nd, U16 - 3rd, U18 - 2nd). FC Stars White is ahead of Scorpions in all but U14 and U17, and in general ranks much lower that ECNL Blue; (Second to last in U13, second to last in U14, 5th in U15 and U16, last in U17 and again 5th in U18.) Scorpions on the other hand only excels at the U17 age bracket while does extremely poorly at U13, U16 and U18, currently ranking last. On the GA front, SSS is ahead of NEFC in U13 (1st), U16 (1st), U17 (2nd), and U19 (1st). NEFC is ahead in U14 (1st) and U15 (3rd). Both rank at the top of the GA league in all age brackets.

To say that only NEFC can compete with ECNL teams when actually SSS is currently ahead of NEFC in most age brackets simply doesn't make sense. To imply that ECNL FC Stars White and Scorpions teams are ahead of GA NEFC and SSS when in general rank so poorly across all age brackets (with few exceptions) is ludicrous.

          ECRL / DPL
If you analyze objective data of DPL and ECRL teams in MA, you will see that they are similarly competitive. IMPACT has also some very competitive teams. Take a look at some of the tournaments where teams from these leagues have played against each other and you will realize that, at least here in MA, the ECRL teams are not stronger than the DPL or some IMPACT teams.

As I stated on my previous post, read the "Ask the Coach..." thread. Yes, the ECNL league is a great league, but the "ECNL or nothing" myth created by some people here who have a clear agenda is just false.
This is probably the best most accurate post on TS.
