    Club Practices During HS season

I just found out that my daughters U15 club team will be practicing twice a week this fall. One practice during the week and one on Sunday. She is worried about getting yelled at by her club coach if she doesn't attend. She will be playing HS 4-6 days a week (depends on the week). What are the benefits of attending club practice vs balancing HS sports, HS social activities and HS school?

You get better as a player at Club practices.

D1 players shouldn’t play high school soccer they will be playing a mix of sloppy players and likely injured. If your kid is likely going D1 route save your body, train w your club, and trainers. If your kid is D3 bound go ahead and play HS ball your club coach will likely be supportive not mad.

Don’t believe the pro Club hype on here. Most of the coaches are not any different/better than HS coaches.

Is this ECNL? Sounds like it. And if so, always prioritize club over HS. If the HS coach doesn't like it oh well. You have higher goals in mind.

U15 are they doing it for the U15s that are in 8th grade, some clubs are. If you want your kid to play high school just make sure they are following the code of conduct of school and eligibility guidelines of the league or they could get booted. As you know some soccer parent will want to get your kid kicked off due to that.

HS is supposed to be your first priority in season. If she's on a JV squad it's probably ok to miss practices but don't miss games. Have her clear it with the coach though. If she makes varsity don't miss anything. Club coaches know the deal and if he yells at her so be it. Again, in season HS is the first priority. In CT they don't even allow you to set foot on the a club field during your HS season - your HS team can forfeit games if you get caught. Why? To avoid burnout and abuse by either the HS or club coaches or both. They're already playing a ton and HS games also involve long bus rides, night games, etc all taking more time than a 90 min club practice. She'll be absolutely fine missing some club stuff

Nope, worrying about missing some club practices in the fall when club coaches know HS is the priority makes you the idiot. In fact, it's in the rulebook (which is being revised but this is on another link)

"I am a select soccer player. Can I play on my select club team at the same time that I play on my high school team?

YES. Provided your own school does not have a more restrictive policy, you can participate on a non-school team at the same time you compete on your school team with a few restrictions. You cannot miss a high school competition or practice in order to participate in the non-school program. (Rule 45 & 96)

If she is on the JV squad, her club can't be very good. Sorry, lots of people here poo poo HS soccer, but there really isnt anything like it in the pay to play scenario. If your kid can't make her HS team better, it doesnt matter what she decides. Always laughed at the kids who thought they were too good for HS. Seems to me, they are only as good as the 10 around them .... be a leader, be the man ... that is the benefit of HS soccer and it will be whatever she makes it. Make what you can for club, but when it gets to be too much, give her nights off from it as needed. As far as playing college soccer, you will hear all of the chumps chirp on about this club, this league ..... no soccer coach at any level recruits clubs, leagues, or teams. If your kid can kick everyone's @$$ at a prospect ID camp for that college, then she will get $. And, if she can't, no matter where she plays or from whom she plays .... she wont!

The whole point of the ECNL schedule at u15 is to allow players to practice and play high school. Sounds like you need to speak to the coach.

There's a reason There's almost no club soccer in the fall for high school age teams - not only is it too much but there will always be conflicts.

Depends on your town. Our HS coach is an absolute moron and only got the job through nepotism.
