Tough for parents to get educated at least in terms of coaching. They never played or played at a high level. The leagues and landscape changes every two minutes so it's hard to keep up. Then there's useful sights like this lol

As far as club being about making money above all else... what's wrong with someone getting paid for their services? Do lawyers not get paid? Doctors? Engineers?
Have you seen a club soccer game lately? How many of the kids have great touch or a strong feet? What about their weak foot? Would they take a shot from 20 with it. Legit 80% or better of plyers do everything with dominant foot still .... hiw many U17 girls a duck when the ball is in the air? Give me a break. As previous poster said club soccer is in it pure and simple for money. I bet the all state track team would give any club team fits foruch of the game.

Your post is way too general. There is a HUGE range of level and ability when it comes to "club soccer". My kid is a u15 ECNL player and if players on her team were ducking when the ball is in the air, they'd be dropped from the team within a couple of weeks. My kid will play HS soccer to have fun with friends from our town, but the level of play is not good. Her u15 club team would easily beat our town's HS varsity team. Obviously, there are some very strong public HS and private school teams, but the majority of those that dominate have a ton of high level club players on them (ECNL, GA, NPL, etc.).

Side note--I don't think it's a bad thing for clubs to offer lower level teams. If a kid loves to play and they want an experience other than town soccer, why is that a problem? Parents can decide whether they want to pay for that experience for their kid or not (just like any other activity).

Different poster but we should want as many kids playing as possible at all different levels. This whole attitude of "if you're not playing at a high level why bother?" isn't good for the sport or creating a stronger soccer culture in this country.
