What years would you say are the best to be playing for an ECNL team.
What is the average players playing time, around 20 minutes a half or less.
Does it matter if you start or come off the bench.
Dos it help if your daughter plays multiple positions with the substitution rule.

      Op again:

You want your daughter playing on the U16 team and continuing. That U16 is an important year.

I dont think it matters whether your daughter comes off the bench so much as what she does when she plays. Also, in terms of college exposure, her playing time often needs to coincide with a coach's schedule. Some coaches can only attend a portion of a specific game and if your daughter isn't on the field then she wont be seen by that particular coach. I would say the minimum per half would be around 20 minutes of playing time.

Versatility may help your daughter a little if she is able to move around and play different positions. But regardless, once she leaves that filed then she is done for the half.

In our experience, I did not hear any additional complaints about playing time at the ECNL level than I heard when she was U9.

This doesn't add up. Why would they not go with the allowed full roster of 18, which would leave just one off the list for any single event?

Sorry to disagree, but emotional reponses are avoidable to many degrees, but it takes plenty of practice and self disipline. Some people can never acheive that.
You can assume I have control over my emotions. Your very first line in post #41 was the only one that was correct, btw. Part of managing your emotions effectively is acknowledging that you have them in the first place and understanding them. Otherwise, you're just engaging in denial.

But back to more relevant matters, you didn't say what you were challenging content wise in regard to this...

"Your critiques about ECNL teams apply to your own teams (assuming you are with some type of Reg 1, NEP, MAPLE team). Bigger rosters (more than 18) are allowed for all of the older age teams.

Some of these teams also travel quite a bit. Ever heard of the NEFC U10 and U11 teams traveling to places like Arizona. I know that one doesn't require air travel or hotels, but still...

And so your teams don't want to win? Your teams have no issues ever with playing time? Your teams don't have a top tier of players who rarely come out, another group who play a lot, and some kids who sometimes may feel shorted? Isn't playing time one of the universal complaints in ALL youth sports, period??? So your club has never gone to a tournament where some of the players and/or parents were disappointed or had a gripe??? You can come on here with a straight face and say all of these issues are unique to the big, bad ECNL system? And your teams/clubs don't sell the college dream in the least???

My guess is that if we drew the line at ECNL and Reg 1 teams, in terms of praising them as the places to be with generally good results, that these threads wouldn't keep reproducing and wouldn't be filled with so many lies. And, to quote someone else, the funny thing is that no one from the ECNL side has claimed that really good non-ECNL teams can't accomplish similar goals."

I've been involved directly or indirectly with teams in town soccer, low to mid-level club, high level club but not ECNL or DAP, high school, and college. To just address one point for those looking to put dents in ENCL for their own agendas, I've NEVER seen any team, including in town soccer and indoor leagues, have NO issues at all with playing time and roster size. And I've never seen a complete absence of concern about these matters in ANY sport. Try to engage on the merits instead of worrying so much about whether there are gaping holes in your attacks and whether or not I am "a turkey."

My kid does not play in the ECNL so I am only peripherally interested in it and have nothing to add to a discussion about it. I am amazed at the amount of discussion it prompts from parents whose kids don't seem to be playing in it. Why bother? What's the draw?

Symbolic dude (the blue jeans thing was literal!)...not a troll...reality...it creates too much drama amoung the girls...they actually feel sorry for each other with some in the other camp of no compassion about it...just being upfront would be a better thing and not make those players travel. .

Injuries on our ECNL took care of the "too many to travel", but the goalies sometimes both traveled, and actually did wear bluejeans, with a team jacket btw...so this poster wasn't so far off.
But goalie shift are a little different. Has anyone had a team where more than 18 rostered players traveled, so some actually did sit out?
