That does not mean that EVERY DAP or ECNL player is the best, it just means both leagues have assembled a good percentage of top teams and players. And this is not meant to be inflammatory.
Where is CH's rolodex when you need it?

This constant ECNL bashing is sad yet comical. Folks just need to concern themselves with their own kid and do what they think is best for their situation. I'm not quite sure why they are concerned about other kids.

Brought to you from a mom that stays home and who's kid is on ECNL team just because she can afford it.

Really??? It sounds more like someone that wishes that their kid was on an ECNL team - regardless of affordability. It was written by a nujob that has insecurity issues and someone that obsesses over what their neighbor does instead of being concerned about their own child.

This exchange sums it all up quite neatly.

It was probably written by someone with a kid on a NON-ECNL team. Why would a ECNL parent write about State Cup unless they have a kid on an ECNL team and another not on an ECNL team.

The obsession that you folks have with ragging on the ECNL kids is tiring...and creepy. Worry about your own kid!!
What you don't get is we are worrying about our kids. No one has any problem with clubs when they develop their own talent. It is the ones that need to recruit players that gets everyone's blood boiling. The smart parents know that the constant ECNL sales pitch will destroy many other teams if people don't respond to counter the ill formed logic that is often used to try to convince other parents to jump ship to it.

You will always be able to find someone who supports that point of view, just like one can always find someone to support the opposite. So don't make ecnl out to be second coming of you know who. It is just another league, I never said it was a bad one. But the alternate paths out there are comparable and have a record and foundation to stand on. I agree ecnl will draw coaches, but so won't the others. It comes down to personal choice. My choice is obvious, even after my daughter was being recruited by ecnl. I'm not buying the hype the supporters are placing on it. And i'll keep that extra cash in my pockets for books, meals and supplies.

I agree that there is more than one route. Could you please show me the record though? It would help me convince my spouse. My child is rising U15.

The record is the R1 path. Up until this year that was the only path. EVERYTHING that has happened before this year is all the evidence your spouse should need. The ECNL is what is new and different. They are the ones who have absolutely NO track record. They are the ones that created the second path by pulling out of the USYSA competitions and then trying to sell the ECNL as an equal alternative. It is not. If your wife can't see the bait and switch that was done then both of you are destined to get stung.

I agree with post #501 and will add that if you need to convince your spouse, then I would say it sounds more personal for them and just go that route. Reg 1 will be just fine.

Is NEFC in Reg. 1 this coming year? U15 that is.

Now I'm confused. I could have sworn my daughter played in the ECNL for two years. This would be the third. Were we dreaming?

And exactly how old is NEFC?

But you have to be in reg 1. :)

There is no history on their website. Weird considering how long they have been around and how stable and established they are. They did have the FC Puma history on their website though.

R1 is greatly weakened and no longer the proven path it was prior to the emergence of ECNL. Do your own research. Don't blindly trust me or anyone else here on T-S.
