Pioneer Valley Soccer Officials Association is giving the MVP award to none other than the Ludlow GK, you know the one that kicked out against the Worcester player.

She broke the record of a Sutton player who had played varsity in jr high. There is currently an 8th grade girl playing varsity for HN who made the team in 7th grade. There are probably lots of others, but those are who I can think of at the moment.
Can speak to the Sutton boys. The varsity team was composed of 3 seniors and another 15 sophmores and juniors. The JV consisted of 2 sophmores, 13 freshmen, three 8th graders and four 7th graders. No 7th or 8th graders made the varsity; nor were any of them called up at any point to the varsity (and there are one or two pretty good ones). Also, none of the 7th or 8th graders started for the JV. Most of the JV are club players (6 play MAPLE D1). Not sure how many club (or ex-club players) there are on the varsity, but I'd guess it's a pretty good number.

I have some knowledge of Douglas and there were one or two 8th grade boys called up to the Varsity - but none of them made the team. I know this for a fact as two of the Douglas boys and two of the Sutton boys - all 8th graders - play for Liverpool's Div 1 U-14 Boys squad.

If you have fewer kids to choose form, why not take a 7th or 8th grade kid who is talented enough to play. Field your strongest team.
and you can also get a middle school waiver which allows middle school players not housed with the high school to also play varsity.

That is correct. These players that were called up were mostly playing against the lesser talented/Smaller teams (Hopedale, etc) and were never given full time Varsity status. I think there was only one player who was called upto varsity and never came back down. He was a 9th grader.

I believe there was a total of at least 6 8th graders on the JV team. As for club players, to my knowledge there are only 3 of the 8th grade boys playing club on the JV squad.

The varsity team itself I believe will be losing 8 or 9 Seniors so there is a good chance that all or most of these 8th graders could make varsity as Freshmen and Douglas will be facing a tough couple of seasons as Sutton is VERY strong.

Come on. Disgusting??? I'm one of the first to say the kid deserved a red in the game against Worcester, but do you really believe one mistake in the heat of the moment should wipe out all the accomplishments of a 17 or 18 year old? Let's not elevate the incident to something that it isn't.

It doesn't wipe out ones "accomplishments" when one is not AWARD-ed MVP. That's ridiculous, many players have many accomplishments on the field but don't get the award. I'm sure someone else was more deserving! With the bad behavior and poor sportsmanship displayed in that semi final he should not have been considered for any awards that followed. Plain and simple.

What did this kid learn? You get rewarded even when you try to kick another player in the face? That makes me sick, this whole thing IS disgusting and everyone involved should be embarrassed.
