If I'm not mistaken, NP who plays at BU (mens) played on varsity in jr high in Douglas and the girls state scoring record is/was held by RB, a former Hamlet/Stars player, also from Douglas who played varsity in junior high. She broke the record of a Sutton player who had played varsity in jr high. There is currently an 8th grade girl playing varsity for HN who made the team in 7th grade. There are probably lots of others, but those are who I can think of at the moment.
I have some knowledge of Douglas and there were one or two 8th grade boys called up to the Varsity - but none of them made the team. I know this for a fact as two of the Douglas boys and two of the Sutton boys - all 8th graders - play for Liverpool's Div 1 U-14 Boys squad.

Some schools choose not to allow 7th grade players to try out, but for the majority of small schools. this is not uncommon. If you have fewer kids to choose form, why not take a 7th or 8th grade kid who is talented enough to play. Field your strongest team.

I believe there was a total of at least 6 8th graders on the JV team. As for club players, to my knowledge there are only 3 of the 8th grade boys playing club on the JV squad.
The varsity team itself I believe will be losing 8 or 9 Seniors so there is a good chance that all or most of these 8th graders could make varsity as Freshmen and Douglas will be facing a tough couple of seasons as Sutton is VERY strong.

Let's not elevate the incident to something that it isn't.
What did this kid learn? You get rewarded even when you try to kick another player in the face? That makes me sick, this whole thing IS disgusting and everyone involved should be embarrassed.
