Not sure what you are watching but it was more than contact. Maybe they both should have gotten a card but the fight broke out AFTER player #22 slapped Ludlow player #27 in the face and then another Ludlow player was thrown to the ground. There are many videos available to see this. WGGB has the coverage of the slap and the Ludlow player being thrown to the ground. The bottom line is Ludlow won and the game got out of hand after a Ludlow player was slapped and another player was thrown to the ground. Bottom line.

Please provide the video for this because the one I have seen on Masslive is the exact opposite of what you are saying.

The only cheap shots I've witnessed where the smacks to the side of the face to Ludlow players and players being tossed to the ground because someone lost a game and couldn't handle it. Verbally attacking, hitting and extreme anger is what was shown for the whole world to see and you just want to continue to drag this out. Let it go.

Based on this post no wonder why these boys behaved the way they did when they lost the game. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

The goalkeeper should have received some kind of card as well. He clearly kicks the opposing player on purpose and that is a cardable offense as well. Honestly there should have been no red. Realize you have high school kids who are emotional at the end of the match.

If anyone recognizes the official in the middle who calls the game off you know he is a typical the game is about me referee and he lost control. He should have seperated the teams with their coaches and then started the remaining minutes after a short cool down period. Know the demographic you are working with.

To clarify, I dont think there should have been a card after the initial foul. After the alap and ensuing riot then obviously players would be sent off. If the referee had just cautioned the gk and original WN player then this never happens.

NO cards, are you a freakin' moron???? Player was properly given a red and GK should have received a yellow. You really think slamming into a GK while he is the air when you have almost no chance of actually getting the ball is not a card?? Your post stands out on TS as absurd and ridiculous, even on TS. Please find another sport to watch.

I disagree, The player was running hard to the ball and his momentum brought him into where the goalie was. If you watch it, he tried to pull up at the end only to get a two footed kick towards his face. Not condoning or commenting on any other actions, but the goalie did deserve a Yellow and you could caution the player but I didn't see a red card offense. then again this is HIgh School and they dont play by the same rules.

a. text book yellow mininum.
b. you cannot view one play and make a blanket staement, rest of game may have included many similar challeges by same player.
c. ref saw enough, he is the authority, good enough for me.

The keeper is in the air on the end line. This was not a cross or toss up 50/50 ball situation when the striker had a legitimate shot at the ball. He has an obligation to avoid contact in this situation. GK is exposed and no real legitimate challenge for the ball was to be had by that player. He lowers his shoulder and hits him right in the crotch while the GK is off the ground and exposed. Momentum is his to control, too bad for him. A yellow for the GK retaliating would have been fair and might have stopped the brawl. A straight red was very justifiable esp given how this game played out. Clearly not incidental contact. I can't see how you think what he did was OK and not a red card.

So today EMass boys take on C/WMass in two games. I'm going out on a limb and predict a C/Mass sweep this W/E. Her's why:

1) Ludlow/Masconomet Ludlow has lived in the finals and has the big game experience. Easy win.
2) CC/GD CC has owned this division for years, but this is not their best team this year. Meanwhile this GD team is the best thing to come out of CMass in a while. GD in a tight one.
3) Georgetown/Sutton Sutton has had a good season, beating a lot of higher Division teams like Nipmuc. I'll take them in a squeaker.

The so-called temperature of the match should be taken into account - which we can't see in the video.

If you just go by the video, the attacker has no business challenging the GK. I don't think its serious/excessive foul play. It's reckless and certainly unsporting. Yellow card IMHO.

The GK kicking the attacker in retaliation is striking. Red cad IMHO.

The brawl in unacceptable. I would hope that those involved would face some serious consequences.
