Last year Gonk's coach also said Ludlow should have lost in the semis - that the better team (Algonquin) lost. Things happen. Mistakes are made. Teams lose. It's that siple.

I will not go as far to say that a better officiated game says North may have advanced but how Ludlow had a full roster for the state final and the fact that you had guys in their 60's doing a state semi-final is an absolute joke. I think the MIAA should be called out on how these games are assigned.

We will be moving to another town in late August. My daughter plays on the varsity soccer team. Does this rule below mean she can't play next Fall for her new HS ?

        MIAA Rule 57: Transfer Students

A student who transfers from any school to an MIAA member high school is ineligible to participate in any interscholastic contest at any level for a period of one year in all sports in which that student participated at the varsity level or its equivalent during the one year period immediately preceding the transfer. “Varsity participation” is defined as any appearance, as a competitor, in a varsity inter-scholastic contest other than a scrimmage. The MIAA executive staff on the basis of the quality of non-school sport program participation will judge the “equivalent”.

If this rule is in fact true and could prevent a child/high school kid from playing a sport, then it should be repealed and its author should be punished. While I understand that it is a rule meant to prevent recruiting.....we are talking about high school kids...

Know directly of two students at our high school that played at private school in fall of 2010 and then came back to public and played same sport (1 football, 1 girls soccer) in fall of 2011. Girls soccer player played for same public in fall of 2009. Easy to get waiver, especially if you are moving from one school district to another. Have never heard of a case where a kid had to sit out - at our school and we have people moving in and out and going back and forth from private to public all the time.

MIAA will give the waiver without a problem.

If the transfer is due to relocating to a new town then she will be eligible to play. See 57.7 Exemptions to the transfer rule.

                      MA Top Five

                      1) GD
                      2) Ludlow (not your best among recent teams)
                      3) Worcester North
                      4) Mascomonet
                      5) Belchertown (gave GD the best tournament game)

                        You're Joking Right?

Putting a DII team above Ludlow is just crazy. I can guess where you live. You can probably guess where I come from. Belchertown does not belong in the top 10 never mind 5! There were at least three other team in the West that were better than Belchertown; never mind the Central and East!

Only if supported by the school administration. I know of one school system that academically was in trouble and people were leaving the system in droves to take advantage of school choice. The school administrators were "We''ll fix you. No sports for a full year" using this MIAA rule as the leverage. Perhaps with people like this running the school you can see why they might have had academic issues.
