Are you saying the Bolts made this up and that it is not true?

I'm the OP and ESPN says its true. Being verbal, the universities cannot confirm this. In fact, the head coaches are not even allowed to initiate a phone conversation with the player or offer them an official campus visit. That's how it works though.

Early? There are already over 150 boys verbal commits for Div 1 alone in 2013 as listed on ESPN live. Actually the top D1 schools are nearing completion of their impact player selections for 2013. And although I don't know the girls as well, my understanding is they proceed on an even earlier schedule. That's one reason this thread exists; to help you see roughly when things are happening on the college recruiting front.

Can a player call a coach?
When/what month can a coach call a player in Junior year?

Congrats to these young men. Don't know them but know what goes into getting there, and not just in terms of the soccer. Outstanding.

Exactly. With the possible exception of Ivies, most top-tier D1s have chosen their 2013 projected impact recruits. Some of those schools might still take marginal or fill-in-the-roster recruits into the Fall.

True, it is not early in junior year. There are only two weeks left in junior year. Many D1 coaches insist on verbals by July 1, going into senior year. True, coaches may call recruits only as of June 1 going into senior year, but recruitment should be going fast and furious by now for serious recruits. Coaches can return emails when players initiate. Players can also call the coaches. Usually, a coach will give a serious recruit his cell number and a time to call so the two don't start playing phone tag.

The top girls are on a 6-12 month earlier timeline, with many serious recruits in serious talks during spring of sophomore year. Rules re contact dates are the same.

OP here. I did some research and he looks like a 2013 grad playing on MPS. Harvard is not yet showing their 2013 commits yet. The Ivies take a little longer.
