Saw the Westford-Masco game & Masco barely put up a fight after first 5-10 minutes. Masco was way overmatched & was seeded appropriately. I think Peabody matches up better against them than Masco.

masco was terrible this year. i didn't see one good player on that team.

I agree that the field is not great, the issue with the refs was with the basic knowledge of the rules. One ref made almost every throw in call backwards the whole game(not biased just backwards). At one point the other ref came over and tried to explain who kicked it out and who should get the ball, so he did ANOTHER drop ball! This is the high school tournament, that is just rediculous. They also were not hard calls, which I know sometimes it is hard to tell, these were just wrong...Also there were so many foolish pushing calls when the girls were just playing good hard soccer. Both teams played a nice clean game though considering .

Wish I could recommend this post. I haven't seen Masco play - but Westford is a really good team. So Masco lost - big deal. Central Catholic lost 5-0, does that mean they are terrible? Another post was guaranteeing certain teams will not win. Really? Why not just pick the teams you think will win rather than trashing high school teams. I seriously doubt some of these commenters have even seen half of these teams. These teams made it to the tournament and that is an accomplishment in itself.

I have refed games at Danvers and must agree with HS Harry. It is foolishness that they are allowed to use the football goal posts as a soccer net. I can't belive that no one has run into the posts and been seriously injured. And yes, it is very difficult to determine on a bang-bang play exactly where the ball has struck, including the top of the net because it often bounces directly back onto the field just like it struck the cross bar. I also remember it as very dark and there was a lip that ran along the side lines keeping balls in that you expected to go out. No excuses but not my favorite place to officiate.

Then Danvers ought to be well prepared for today's game at Stoneham, which has maybe the worst HS soccer field I've ever seen -- small, bumpy, and slow. It's hard to kick a long ball out of bounds there, and when you do, chances are disappears in the weeds, sticker bushes, etc.

Yes true, that post was uncalled for but honestly Masco wasn't the same strength and skill that they've been in years past. I think they'd even agree. They have solid players but none of the big talented stars that they've had in the past. Considering that, they actually did very well...so at least give them that.

No idea. But Newton North is very happy not to have to play LS to make the semis!
