Funny thing is they are not a 1 or 2 player team. Their top player is outstanding. Their outside midfielders are teriffic at crossing balls inside mid is creative and wins lots of balls defenders are real good for the most part. Just no need for one player to take on 7

Ok Harry but really Winchester? What is your love of this team? Have yous seen them play? I have, twice.......and not impress. They have a very good middie, but after that they are average. I think they are a good team, but top 5 is too high.
who in D1 North has been better? Central... they just beat them. Masco? Westford? A/B? All three have a slew of losses. Beverly? They haven't beaten anybody that is decent. Maybe Newton North but they have slipped. Left with the cloices I'd say Wincheter isn't a bad choice.

yes i saw the game, central out shot Winchester and the chances they had were better. They couldn't finish though. They were clearly the better team but sometimes it doesn't matter how good your team is you have to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net. Central didn't capitalize while Winchester did.

You might be right......North has 2-3 "top " level teams an the rest are weak. Harry should shrink it down to top three in the North!

I think L/S has the potential to be a dominant team in the tournament. However it is more likely to be an unlikely champion. Any of the teams mentioned have the potential to get some breaks and win the four games necessary to emerge as the North Champion. From what I have seen, and I have seen most of these teams now, this is how I would handicapmy top 5 going into the North D1 tournament:

Lincoln/ Sudbury. They are my current favorites. They have a solid group of performers with the best overall collection of soccer talent in the bunch. My only concern is the lack of deep tourney experience and the fact that they have yet to play an effective agressive, physical and direct team. they will need to beat that type of opponent to earn a title.

Peabody. A very experienced core of players and the best overall player in the region make the Tanners a top threat to finally win a title. They suffer from playing a very weak regular schedule and adjusting to big turf fields for latter round games.

Central Catholic. The defending champs have an excellent shot to repeat. They will need some breaks but they play the type of defensive style and with the intensity that is typically succesful in the semis and fnals. They lack a real consistent scoring threat and could struggle against teams that can keep the ball on the ground against them.

Andover. We will see if Andover is the real deal during the last part of the regular season. Having watched them play, I am not sure that they can wn four in a row against good competition, so their draw will be key. But they have surprised all year and if they come into the tourney on a high note (with wins over CC, Masco and Danvers) they can contend.

Lexington. Another talented side that can play solid possession. They have quietly strung together a great season and will enetr the tourney with some momentum. I do think the Midd is down and the other favorites are probably a little better.

Otheres that can win it: Winchester, Westford and yes A/B is a long shot.

Have only seen Peabody play a few times this year. Have not had a chance to see the others. I actually think they play better on bigger fields. But if the coach doesn't make some changes in the middle, they will not go too far. Current attacking mid is not ready to play that position against bigger, faster, better teams & there are a few other options available to him that he is not taking advantage of.

Well, looks like CS's 7 are better than EB's

Medfield is a very good team, but the best thing about Medfield this year may be the goalie. Without SN, they will win 3-4 games in tourney but may be one player short of winning it all

I would take central over them.

Correction: EB beat Spellman the first time 2-1 and EB did not dominate the game.

EB coach does admit that they do well in the season due to the schedule and then they have a hard time getting far in the playoffs. It seems like their goal this year is to at least make it by game one.

The only other tough game in the schedule is Norwell, who is sorta like their arch rival. They did beat them once this season and I think they play them again. Too bad Norwell is in D3.How do they decide divisions? If EB plays all D3 teams, why aren't they in D3?

No one scored would be my guess

Belmont and Winchester tie 1-1 in an intense game - Winchester scores with under 4 minutes left.

I like Franklin and OA in the South they play solid schedules. Looks like it is going to be Wellesley and Weymouth coming out of the BSL. They will be battle tested as well.
