Ref saw net move, thought it went in & called it a goal, even after watching Peabody keeper walk behind net to retrieve the ball! High school reffing at its finest. -

I went to the Central Catholic/ Danvers match. I saw some very good things out of Central. Based on the early results from some other leagues, i don't think there high rankings will proove undeserved. They remind me a lot of last year's edition. Athletic, defensively aggressive with enough speed and skill through the middle and top to cause opponents fits. They are a very good team, that will improve over the year, so I think they will be in the thick of D1North come November and the tourney.
On the other hand i was disapointed in Danvers. They were slow and almost passive. Not like any Falcon team I have ever seen. I know they lost a lot of talent from last year (although Persson is certainly one of the best players in the state). If teams like Beverly and Marblehead have improved dramitically from last year, they could struggle - even in-league. My guess is that they will turn it around and be at or near the top of D2 North by the tourney, but it is going to take some work and some of their younger players to really step up their games.
Reading reports from the Peabody match, it looks like it was just one of those crazy games. Controversy about a Chelmsford goal and an ability of the Tanners to finish on chances resulted in the tie. A little caise for concern, but they are experienced enough to move on from it. My issue for them is again a weak schedule. If Danvers and fenwick are down, it leaves virtually nobody remaining that could be described as a tournament contender. Playng a season of lesser opponents has hurt them in the past and probably will again.Comment

Great game
Was also at the game and it was a great battle from both teams.
Wether or not it was a goal the ref stood by his call and did not give in to the
disrespectful yelling and badgering from the obnoxious Peabody parents. The girls and coaches were upset but reacted with class and turned up the pressure and didn't quit.

Chelmsford coach knew it didn't go in & almost all Chelmsford parents joking about it after game. All players on the field began lining up for a goal kick. I think the only one in the stadium who thought it went in was the fat & out-of-shape (there's a surprise, right?) ref. The other ref said he didn't see the play. How to take a stand buddy! Personally I think Danvers is a good team, although not as good as last year's edition - ergo Central is a very good team.
Peabody is not as good as last year either. It just goes to show you that no matter how good your forwards are, you still have to have a midfield that can deliver the ball in the offensive third.Comment

Peabody fan here & I agree with you assessment. Mids that are in there now are not doing the job. One is just way too small to handle the job right now (she's a freshman) & the other just plays kickball. Coach needs to get creative & try others there or they are in big trouble. Even their usually strong D seems to playing scared & just kicking ball out of their end, usually to the other team. Central is pretty strong again this year. I saw them play and I was impressed with their forwards and mids. I would venture to say that they are just as good as last year. Their defense is beatable if a team has some strong forwards, but they are very smart on attack.Comment

All you have to do is make sure the right date is up. You can do that by changing the date forward or backward up near the top of the page (or in the url).
The scores are there if the coaches call them in. It's the best site for score info in EMass.
