FYI I believe CC is D2. Therefore the losses do not count against Matignon in terms of tournament qualification.

Central is D1, and the defending state champs. Matignon did get moved to the CC Large (my mistake) but that will almost certainly mean that they can disregard all league games against D2 opponents when it comes to tourney qualification. If CC (like Somerville) is an exemption opponent Matignon can decide -prior to the season - to also disregard those games for tourney qualification. That leaves 2 with Marian, St. Marys, Austin Prep and single games with Nashoba and Mt. Alvernia as their D3 games. Those will count as will the single game with a beatable M-Head and perhaps the 4 against D1 opponents CC and Somerville. Definitely not the simplest route, but probably the toughest schedule in all of D3. If they do qualify they will be battle tested and a favoroite in D3, even as a low sed.

I don't pay much attention to the Bay State outside of Framingham and Newton North. Expectations are better this year for NN, and although Framingham lost some talented players, their size usually means that they re-load - not re-build. I think that the Baystate remains one of the state's stronger leagues, but it isn't the powerhouse conference of 5-7 years ago. I think that the DCL is the best top to bottom and that individual teams from other North conferences (like Central Catholic, Peabody and Masco) are as strong as the best from the Baystate.

May need to rethink Masco. They lost tons of talent. Their senior core is mediocre at best. I'd be surprised if they even make it into the top 5.

don't know about incoming talent but Needham has one of the top coaches in the state.

Because of the disparity in strength of the schools. A D3 team is not penalized for playing an upper division team since they are only playing schools in the same division during tournament. Winthrop if I am not mistaken is in a league with mostly D1/2 schools and has qualified for tournament with sub .500 record.
