How does SM play? They have shutouts in half their games (mostly ISL). Pack the box, great goalie, and play longball to the NT player?

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNational team player plays midfield and is very effective making teammates better. Also two very fast and skilled forwards up front. Defense is a little sketchy though. The attack is very effective and they do not pack the box. SM should win Class C tournament and move up to Class B next year.

Rivers plays Governors, not Groton
Worcester plays Exeter, not Andover
St Marks plays winner of St Lukes and Hamden Hall, not Brewster
IF Each of these is a prediction of the FINAL then you are way ahead of yourself as each has to win another game on Saturday to make it this far.

The bottom line is that SM is better with SN playing but they still have a long way to go before they can be truly considered an upper tier team. For the sake of this discussion, though, from what I've seen, I would give the nod to the defense at this point. A defense is generally put under this much pressure when the attack tends to loose the ball easily/quickly.
Please don't take this post personally. I'm not slamming the team and especially not the players. They play hard and are doing the best they can. I'm just trying to contribute some data points since it's difficult to gauge teams unless you actually see them play.
