How does SM play? They have shutouts in half their games (mostly ISL). Pack the box, great goalie, and play longball to the NT player?

So much for ISL in Class A.

Must have been all the negative comments from this forum that threw Milton and Nobles off their game.

National team player plays midfield and is very effective making teammates better. Also two very fast and skilled forwards up front. Defense is a little sketchy though. The attack is very effective and they do not pack the box. SM should win Class C tournament and move up to Class B next year.

I have a different opinion on the game. Williston was very athletic and was capable of playing a fast paced game. I thought Groton was the better team, though, and had the run of play most of the game, even when Williston played high pressure soccer. Williston had that 1 very good opportunity to start the second half and then turned up the heat for the last 10 minutes. Groton out-possessed them the rest of the game and should have scored a couple more goals.

St Marks plays winner of St Lukes and Hamden Hall, not Brewster

IF Each of these is a prediction of the FINAL then you are way ahead of yourself as each has to win another game on Saturday to make it this far.
So you can deduce who I think will win the semis. Right? I stand by my FINALS predictions.

I hope you are right. I have not seen every team play, but I think these three are very deserving, two being in the top few teams in New England this year and one making a fantastic step forward this year. Good luck to all.

Defense is sketchy? They have posted 9 shutouts so far. The games they lost were games in which they lost the midfield. The 5 goals they gave up in the 5-5 tie to Rivers were mostly all shots from well outside the 18. I'd say the defense is a tad better then sketchy.

I would suggest that the defense is better than the offense. "two very fast and skilled forwards " should have translated to more goals against the good teams.

We played SM a few weeks ago when their NT player was hurt or sick. The ball hardly ever made it into our half of the field. I don't think it ever did in the second half. We had 37 shots with 7 of them on frame vs SM's 0 or 1. It ended up a 0-0 game but the result is truly inexplicable. I actually thought that SM did better against us last year than this year.

The bottom line is that SM is better with SN playing but they still have a long way to go before they can be truly considered an upper tier team. For the sake of this discussion, though, from what I've seen, I would give the nod to the defense at this point. A defense is generally put under this much pressure when the attack tends to loose the ball easily/quickly.

Please don't take this post personally. I'm not slamming the team and especially not the players. They play hard and are doing the best they can. I'm just trying to contribute some data points since it's difficult to gauge teams unless you actually see them play.
