You're kidding me, right? The level of play was quite weak this year. Have you not been watching the games and instead just trying to "enjoy" the memories. Nothing wrong with that but don't confuse it with thinking what you saw was "a pinnacle". Every new set of parents thinks (wants to believe) their kid's team/league/district is better/tougher than the previous years. Anyone that's been watching the last 10 years knows that's simply not true of this year.
No, sorry. Nothing nostalgic or parental. The high school game looks more like the club game every year (at least the good D1 teams). Every year there are more strings of 10 and sometimes even 20 passes in the middle of games. Every year there is more patient building in the offensive third than just through ball prayers and hoping for over the top magic. No question. I don't even agree to disagree. You're just wrong. Keep going. Next year will be better again.

Yeah, the past few years, Marlboro has slipped a lot, as has St John's. Nashoba had some great teams about 10 years ago. NM has improved, as has North, but overall CMass is in decline. Very little college talent to be seen.

Like he used to tell the girls team “I don’t care who you’ve played for or who your coach was I’m the best coach you’ll ever have”. Reason #2, he always over thinks it. He did it in 2006 with the Gong girls who arguably had more talent than the Gong girls who won the state championship and last year (when he blamed the loss against Ludlow on the wind). Once KM gets an idea in his head no one can change his mind.
Just pathetic. Do you send your children to every Gonk practice wearing a wire?

I always get a kick out of how rude people are when they are anonymous. An internet thing. You've been to the wrong games then. GD, Algonquin, Marlboro, Shrewsbury, Nashoba, NM...all these teams had possession like that. But then, why am I arguing with a comment like yours.

Fact is - the coach can praise his d & goalkeeper all he wants (as he did in the papers today), but the defense failed completely in this game. Free kicks given outside the box, the keeper reportedly being "surprised" by the second goal (just like last year against Ludlow), and the third scored with individual talent (beating the keeper one on one - where was the d?), just shows ultimately how lacking Gonk is in terms of soccer IQ & defense. Their record looks good because they don't have to do much to beat teams until the end of the season. They can't complain about speed - RR, CS, MP, CB, all seniors, all fast. They should be thinking about why they have such trouble defending against good teams. Who the heck is JM anyway? According to another poster, he looked like he didn't know what he was doing on the field. Doesn't play club, as far as I'm aware. The others are placed back there because they're big and fast and their aim is to clear balls (especially using their heads). Waste of their talent. Put some real trained defenders in the back next year, and hopefully Algonquin will advance a little further. Don't know what'll happen in terms of the goalie. The backup is ok, but not MK standard. Don't think there are any other upcoming goalies in the school - JVs was weak from what I saw (first losses in a few years for a Gonk JV team).

And for all that's holy, stop relying on MPS for players! Start developing the Freshmen & JV teams with proper coaches!

Do the Gonk parents actually get the fact that posts like these are why they are by far the most detested folks in this state?

Again, this is what you want to believe to be true and is simply not the case. You can keep telling yourself something different if it makes you feel better. The quality fo play this year was not good - and I do mean the top D1 teams - compared to teams of the last 10 years. Anyone that saw the SJ, Marlboro, Gonk team of the last 10 years knows that the overall quality of play is worse now than it has been in some time. The "best" team did it with a couple of individually strong players. 10 and 20 pass strings? Puh-lease, get a grip.

Yeah, I saw BC put together a slick 8 pass string once this year. As for HS Soccer, kick and run reigns. I've seen a few 3-4 pass strings happen on a few teams, but with any type of defensive pressure, it's very rare.

Seriously, did anyone see the game? Seemed like the game was even in the first half, and then WN pulled away after half time. Did Gonk get any looks at the goal at all, apart from the pk? Was WN's defense/goalie just that good? Considering how many goal scorers Gonk had this season, I'll be surprised if they didn't get a lot of shots off.

The papers seem to report a lot of individual effort on Worcester's part, less of a team effort. And they still won. So what's the lesson to be learned from that?

Nope. No time to 'get it' when they're too busy transcribing what their coach supposedly said years ago (see post 663).

We had 10-15 all year long. But with a weak attack and not being able to keep the ball out of the net, all the possession in the world doesn't matter. BUT, it's better to watch and the only long term road to winning. Kick on America. Just kick it.

Refs ? Its more likely the "Victory" celebration held the night before the game.
