They have lost one game this year. They are 13-1-1 thats a pretty damn good record.
they were 13-0-0 a few short days ago, doubts are starting to set in?

Not affiliated with either school. Went to the game was very entertaining and action packed. Each team hit the post Wachusett twice Algonquin once. Each keeper made big saves Wachuset 3 or 4 ( one a PK save ) Algonquin 2 or 3. Wachusett #11 (African American kid) dominated Algonquins defense hit post, many crosses, drew a PK ( should of got another PK and Gonk a red card ), had two balls cleared off the line after beating the keeper. Nice player heard a parent say he plays for NEfC top team. # 8 Algonquin player played terrific in first half caused many problems for Wachusett but disappeared in second half. any ways game could of went either way. First time seeing Wachusett play second seeing the Gonk. Got my $5 worth for sure. No one team dominated the other

Keeper played out of his mind. Terrific game. Algonquin was missing there starting keeper and two starting center backs. NOT AN EXCUSE just a fact. Regardless Wachusett deserved the win based on their keepers' performance alone.

Wach had there chances to !! Gonk keeper making a few big saves to, one on a lazer that he some how tipped over the cross bar. Gonk defense had to clear a ball or to off the line after keeper beat and foul 2-3 times, one time ridiculous, to prevent a break away inside the Wachusett attacking third

Gonk lost noone was making excuses. Play was hardly dirty. Dirty is tackles from behind, cheap shots, etc. Physical play no doubt, lots of fouls, tactical fouls at time. Dirty is a bit harsh.

I'm a Wachusett parent and I would agree with this post. Not a dirty game. However one foul was ABSOLUTELY ridiculous when our Forward Lenny went in on a breakaway and was taken down not by a foul but an American football tackle from behind about 20 yards from the goal as he was coming down the middle. Im no soccer ref nor would I want to be one but that was uncalled for and borderline cheap AND NOT A TACTICAL FOUL !! The Algonquin player was clearly beaten and beaten bad. Algonquin had a hard time with Lenny and fouled hiim ALOT. It was a great game to watch thou

Yeah, unfortunately this is what happens when you bring the coaches freshman son as a striker, ignore juniors for freshmen & sophs. In the end, stress & inexperience will show. Good luck to Gonk for the rest of the season, though.

Agreed great game Wachusett deserved the win. Wachusett goalie was great! Gonk played well but too much long ball in the 2nd half (panicky?). Hope to see a rematch in the Districts!

And they do, most of the time. Wasn't at the game, but I'd love to hear Coach G's tactics. I know he's a club coach, and KM isn't (though he does rely a lot on MPS to filter in players), so how'd he manage such a shocking win? Not trashtalking, really want to know. Gonk's got a great set of senior players.
There was not much soccer on display at the St Johns game on Saturday and I'd guess the same MO was utilized last night. Coach G's tactics include quite a bit of physical play, which can force mistakes. Check the foul count.

Well then, the posters who have noted that KM has been bringing more & more young kids onto the roster have a point. When physical play is going on, who's going to win out? The 200lb senior, or the 120lb freshman. Not saying it's right, just that this is what goes on in HS soccer.Totally different experience to club.

As to the ctrbacks being out - are we talking suspensions? I know one of the boys had a suspension last year. Hope the kids aren't messing up in their final season of Gonk soccer.

So true about overly physical play ruling the day in the HS game. We played both teams twice. When refs are calling the fouls a finesse team can win, when they're not, the victory goes to the hammer throwers.
