That was another team whining. Ie, if Gonk doesn't totally crush an opponent, perhaps they're slipping. Seems to me that perhaps they're playing their bench and backing off to avoid injuries. They need to be in one piece for post season. You only need one goal for a win, remember?

        Algonquin 1, Marlboro 0
Algonquin 3, North Middlesex 2 (and down 2-1 with 10 mins to play)
        Algonquin 2, North 1

Somebody will beat them. I don't think they're as potent as with JS from last year finishing for them.

Thay are clearly the cream of the crop (along with Groton Dunstable but we'll never know...)

They're all good kids. It's fun to watch. The players of 15 years ago couldn't even be on the same field with some of these teams.

Not sure about 15 years ago, but I think the teams of 2007 and perhaps a year or two before that were better than today's teams in CMass.

Amen, brother. Couldn't agree with you more. The hs soccer I've witnessed this year has been an atrocity. If it wasn't for the honor of playing for your school, I don't know why kids would want to be involved.

What a down year in D1 soccer besides Algonquin and North all the other teams are hovering around .500 Shrewsbury 5-4-0, N. Middlesex 4-4-2, Doherty 3-4-1, Shep Hill 3-3-2, St Johns 2-3-3, Wachusett 4-3-0, Marlboro 4-4-1, Nashoba 2-2-3, South 4-3-0 only Milford 5-2-3 and Tantasqua 6-3-2 have created a little distance from .500.

I love it when people say this about the losing team. A winning team is a winning team because even on their "bad" days, they win. A losing team is a loosing team because even on their "good"days, they lose. You truly out play another team when you win, even on the bad days when it's a struggle.

I have been beating the drum for North all season. If they stay focused and organized, their speed of play is unstoppable. They are fun to watch.

If I were to hazard a guess at why, great HS soccer is fed by great club players. Going back 5+ years, Juventus was a strong Worcester based club highlighted by their 2007 HS year Nationally ranked team. Those kids were sprinkled all over CMass HS teams, but were most seen on the state champion St John's team. Teams like Eagles and Inter also contributed, but they tended to also contain a lot of EMass players. Juventus has since faded from view.

Agreed. As a friend of mine says, "you gotta be able to put the biscuit in the basket".

Can you imagine saying the losing team "out played" the winning team in any other sport? Football? Basketball? Hockey? I suppose it a testimony to the beauty of the game that soccer is about something besides winning. In all other sports, the score alone is what determines who out played whom.

yes i can, have you never seen a hockey game where one team totally outshoots and dominates the other but loses 1-0 or 2-1? same can happen in soccer and baseball. basketball and football not really possible.

Yes, the same team will beat both the teams you mentioned.

Some interesting scores yesterday in D1

Westboro 1 Nashoba 0 - Westboro first win. A set back for Nashoba ? Nashoba seems to be hot and cold this season

Marlboro 1 Hudson 1 - A bit schocked as I felt Marlboro would be the better team. Hudson making a push for a district spot

Algonquin 2 Leominster 0 - Gonk had beaten leominster 8-0 2 weeks ago. Only 2 first half goals. Getting over confident?

North 2 ST Johns 1 - North had beaten them 6-0 2 weeks ago. Another top team getting over confident ?

Wachusett 3 Milford 0 - what cool aid has Wachusett been drinking lately seem to be on a roll beating a few good team in last weeek

                                N. Middlesex 1 Shrewsbury 0 - is shrewsburys youth catching up with them, Had played Gonk to a 1-1 half time score last game. NM coming off a 6-0 defeat to Wachusett

Burncoat 3 Doherty 0 first win for Burncoat Doherty district chanes take a blow with the loss
