GD may be a D2 school, but could easily take on the D1s, including Algonquin. Central Mass D1 has been a joke for a while, with a few good players on each team, but mostly mediocre soccer players/big/strong/aggressive athletes. GD has somewhat of a similar mix this year (including DAP players - critical as far as leadership & skills go), plus a solid keeper. This changes from year to year, of course. Next year, for example, Algonquin (with whom I'm most familiar) will have very little senior leadership, and be very young. Unless other CMass teams are weak, it'll be a tough rebuilding year for the school, which is not used to losing at any level.

You can tell a lot by JV - Leominster's was not very strong last year, St. John's was better, Algonquin's only had one club player, I think. I think we're in for quite a bit of not amazing soccer in Cmass in the next few seasons.

I did think SJ had a good jv team last year, don't know how many seniors they lost, and this is the last year for a while where Algonquin has a large group of seniors playing together. All I really hope is that the games are somewhat competitive. The HS soccer I witnessed last year was really not very inspired.

Decent soccer players for their size, but ridiculous to have 120 pounder up against a 190 lb senior. That's why we're seeing so many injuries, including serious concussions. But whatever. As long as the coach (and more importantly, parents) are happy.

Gonk struggled vs North. Actually got out shot. Goals game from a 40 yard free kick and a ball the GK dropped. However a win is win
