And the Gonk keeper is hands down better than anyone else by the way, carried MPS Bulldogs to the state final against FC Blazers and was ahead on PK's after making a save until a teamate missed the goal entirely eventually losing on the 7th kicker. Let me know when GD finally beats Nipmuc then you can talk about them.

Gonk beats worcester north 2-1. Neither team played as well as I've seen them before. Chippy game to be honest. Gonk never looked in danger of losing though and took a 2-0 lead before North scored with about 8 minutes to go to make it interesting. Gonk basically controlled the last 8 with no real threats. Teams could meat again in playoffs.

One thing is for sure. All the older folks that post in here and perhaps have some hazy memory of soccer glory (or not) couldn't hold the jocks of the kids playing today. Even the high school teams of 15 years ago wouldn't come close.
Sorry but that's just the way it is. For years, American soccer was just a bunch of "hammer throwers", athletes playing soccer.
The top tier teams you so readily dis in here are playing the real game. Possession. Building it into the offensive third and not just praying for through balls or chips over the top.
I'm really impressed with the club trained kids of the hoity toity towns AND the West African soccer machine that is North and South.
C'mon. Enjoy the game.

Trust me, there's still plenty of boot it over the top to the guy at the front, or long throws to the guy at the front, plenty of "hammer throwers", as you call them, and less of the beautiful game involved. Maybe better than 15 years ago. Wasn't around watching then, so I wouldn't know.
